I sent a portable accountant file to our accountant for year-end review. My subscription automatically updated so when I installed to a new computer, it is version 2022. Now our accountant cannot open the file because they are still using 2021. Is there not an option to save to a previous version? What do I need to do so our accountant can review and finalize for tax prep?
Thanks for visiting the Community today, @EWagner. You'll want to restore the backup of your company file before the upgrade.
Here's how:

Install QB Desktop 2021 on your new machine and find any backup files (QBB) to restore on it. Then you can send the Accountant's Copy to your accountant.
I don't follow ... my QB 2022 has all accounts reconciled for accountant review. If I restore a backup, I will have to re-do all the reconciliation?
I already upgraded ... it is a subscription so it updated. I have weekly backups but won't loading a backup will overwrite my current file? The backup isn't the latest accounting. I do not open anything from the accountant; they just send me JEs to make. The issue is the accountant is not using 2022 and I need to save my file in an earlier format.
I appreciate you for getting back to us, EWagner.
Yes, once you restore the backup copy of the file, you'll have to reconcile the transactions again.
From there, you're good to send the accountant's copy to your accountant.

I am afraid that is far from an acceptable solution. I have since reconciled a number of bank accounts, invoiced, set up jobs, etc. I spent two days alone on reconciliation. I cannot understand why Intuit would not allow backwards compatibility. Really, really poor decision.
When the box popped up to update, I thought it was the regular QB file update. So not happy with this situation.
You can still reinstall your QBD 2021 with the license code which you can find on your CAMPS. Then you can also find the latest version of your files before you upgrade them to QBD 2022.
