How can I access 1099s from a previous year?

Glad to see you here in the Community, @thestudiofairfie.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we're unable to get the actual form. Though, we can pull up the 1099 Transaction Detail Report and filter it to view the following:

  • 1099 contractors that meet the threshold
  • 1099 contractors below the threshold
  • Contractors now marked for 1099

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. On the search bar, type 1099 Transaction Detail Report.
  3. Select the Customize button.
  4. Click the Filter drop-down arrow, select the box next to Type of Contractors and choose from the list.
  5. Select Run report.

We can also get copies of your 1099's if you've filed them through our 1099 E-file service. I'll guide you how:

  1. Log in to your 1099 E-file Service account
  2. Under step 2, click Download and print copies for your records
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions until you reach the Download You 1099 Forms screen.
  4. Select to either Print For Contractors or Print For Your Records.

Learn more about 1099 at this guide: What is a 1099 and do I need to file one?

Additionally, if you need help with other tasks in QBO, just click the link here and look for responses that fit your concern.

If you have any questions about 1099, let me know in the comment. I'm here to make sure you're all set. Have a good one.

Thank you for posting your concern on this thread, Mikeaccc.

Let's open the 1099 Transaction Detail report and look for contractors who meet the threshold. Then print the tax forms in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'm here to guide you through the process.

Businesses must issue 1099 forms to any payee who received $600 or more in cash (non-employment) during the previous year. The report mentioned above allows you to view the following data:

  • 1099 contractors that meet the threshold.
  • 1099 contractors below the threshold.
  • Contractors now marked for 1099.

To build the report:

  1. In your company, head to the Reports menu on the left panel and type 1099 Transaction Detail Report into the search field.
  2. Tap the Customize button to display the Customize report window.
  3. Click the Filter drop-down arrow to see more options.
  4. Tick the Type of Contractors box and choose the vendors from the list.
  5. Press the Run report button to view the changes.

Once you have all the information, let's go ahead and print the 1099s. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu and choose Contractors or tap on Expenses and then Vendors.
  2. Select Prepare 1099s and click Let’s get started.
  3. Ensure your company name, address, and tax ID matches are correct and match what is found on tax notices or letters from the IRS.
  4. Pick the boxes representing the type of payments made to all of your contractors this year, then press the Next button.
  5. Please verify that all of your contractors show up and that their personal information and email addresses are correct.
  6. Check over the payment totals for each box you selected in Step 4 and choose Next.
  7. Select E-File for me to e-file your 1099s or tap I’ll file myself to print and mail the forms yourself.

This guide contains instructions on how to print the 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms. However, if you file the tax form using our 1099 E-file service, you can obtain copies from there as well.

These resources answer frequently asked questions about 1099 forms and walk you through the process of processing them in the online program:

Reach out to me if you have any additional questions or concerns about the 1099 forms. I'll be there to help you every step of the way. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

How can I access 1099s from a previous year?

This link no longer works. How do I access previously filed 1099s? Also, my vendors did NOT receive an email to access online.

Thank you for joining the conversation, Angela.

Thank you for joining the conversation. I'll help you check your previously filed 1099 forms and share the provide possible reasons why your vendors didn't receive their forms so you're guided through the next steps.

I'm not sure which of the links (hypertexts) from the above answers you tried, but you should be able to access your filed forms on the 1099 E-File Service page. Just log in using your Intuit credentials, and you should see something like this in the below screenshot.

About vendors not receiving an email of their 1099 forms, please have them check the Trash/Junk or Spam folders. The email could be routed there.

On the other hand, I can see that my colleague, Rasa-LilaM, has shared some additional references that you might need in the future. Feel free to check them out as well.

You can always go back to this thread if you have other questions in mind. Have a good one.

This link does not work.  Just redirects to QB payroll, which only shows most recent filing, nothing prior to that.  Can't for the life of me figure why they wouldn't show all.

How can I access 1099s from a previous year?

I am having the same issue. I'm trying to confirm that 1099s were filed in QBO because we have a contractor that received 2 but I can't check if this was done because there is no historical way of doing so. Quickbooks needs to step it up.
