I'd be glad to assist you in making sure the memo field will be included when printing your checks in QuickBooks Online, @Canes.
In QuickBooks Online, the ability to include memos on printed checks is just as easy as it's originally made to be printed together with it. We just have to make sure that we've entered the text we'd like to appear.
On the other hand, if you're referring to the bill payment check, please know that it's currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. However, you don't have to worry as we've prepared a workaround you can utilize which is to manually enter the memo and I'd love to include the complete process for your convenience:
First, let's open the bill:
Now when you're ready to pay the bill and print the payment check,
Additionally, I've prepared an article you can always refer to in case you encounter printing issues when you encounter the most common printing issues: Fix QuickBooks Online printing issues on browsers for Windows.
Let me know if there's anything else you need by leaving a comment below. It's my priority to ensure that you'll be able to include the memo field when printing checks in QuickBooks Online. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Have a wonderful day.
These instructions don't work because there is no longer a "save and print" option. Why is this very basic function so difficult to achieve?
I'll share information that could help you get through this.
It appears that Save the option default on your Pay Bills page. You can select the dropdown to view the other option and click Save and Print. I will attach a screenshot for better reference.
However, if you're still unable to choose the option, you can perform basic troubleshooting steps to see if it is a browser issue. Sometimes, your search engine's cache and cookies become corrupted, causing problems when accessing websites or opening files. To begin, open your QBO account in an incognito window. It will prevent the browser history from being saved. Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:
If the private browsing session works, clear the browser's cache so the system can restart. This task is also possible in other supported, up-to-date browsers. Clearing the cache will reboot the system, allowing you to work with clearing stocked cache and cookies that causing the issues.

I would also appreciate hearing any updates after you have completed the steps, as I want to make sure this resolves your concern. Please do not hesitate to contact us again. Have a fantastic day!
Same complaint here. This is pitiful. If the bill allows me to enter memo text, why can't QBO simply print that memo text onto the memo line of the check. Why do I need to take additional steps to achieve this? QBO is so awful compared to the desktop version. Come on Intuit.... you can do better than this.
It's an absolute embarrassment for Intuit. This company doesn't listen.
You think I want to copy and paste the Memo from a bill to the bill payment (check) when I'm writing 30 checks at a time?
Fix it or find someone who can!
That is a ridiculous solution! If you take the time to add memo's to your bills then they should print on the dang check. Who has the time to copy paste double duty these days. Though we were going forward not backwards! Dumb! Shame on y'all. Get the creators to correct this issue - write a scrip patch!!
Line up hell I can’t even get it to print.
It not we use QB to print one check at a time! If you take you the time to enter the data memo then it should print on the check when printing checks via pay bills. INTUIT missed the mark here in a huge way!!!!!
Exactly!!!!!!!
They still haven't listened. I've been handwriting the Memo on the printed check.....takes too long otherwise.
QB set us back 25 years at least.
This isn't the kind of notion that we want you to instill in printing checks with memos, @chamber2023. Having them printed with the transaction can provide or deliver additional information about the purpose of the deal or business.
If you're referring to printing bill payment checks that do not include the memo field, I acknowledge the amount of effort you need to exert in performing the workaround shared by my peer, QueenC. With that being said, I recommend sending this as a product suggestion to check the feasibility and benefits of the feature. Our product developers are responsible for evaluating and implementing new enhancements in the application. Here's how:
On the other hand, if you're referring to printing checks, you can easily do that by referring to Step 3: Print checks from the print queue in this article: Print a check in QuickBooks Online.
Moreover, you can refer to these resources about configuring your print settings and learn how to view and edit vendor transactions:
Feel free to tap me in this forum if you need additional assistance with printing transactions or any QuickBooks-related topics. Addressing your concern is my top priority. Take care!
Exactly, this is ridiculous! Especially all the fees we have to pay. Make QB work right!!!
I am seriously looking into changing my software
We are having the same exact problem. I hope QBO/Intuit can find a way to print the Memo typed in on Bill pay menu on the check itself. We shouldn't have to copy/paste it in another screen or retype it. I hope they can fix this soon but I am 10 months past your post without any progress.
I will reach out to your development team with this request to create the ability to have text entered for the memo line of the check to actually print on the memo line of check. I will suggest also that they register for this forum and participate. They could learn a great deal by being proactive enough to learn from the frustrated users by joining our discussions. Better yet, create a link to a site called "How can we do better?". And give users access to that sight so we can see what QB is really doing (or not doing) to address reported concerns. This way we don't have to wonder if our "Feedback" is being ignored.
Thanks. I do keep sending feedback through the application but never see a response.
Not surprised. A courtesy response would go a long way to foster customer satisfaction. I'm looking at alternatives to QB. Wish I could just go back to the desktop version.
Me too on that one from the dumbed down nomenclature to the bad ui engineering I am one angry bean counter. Have you tried to run a daily check detail report. It’s freaking humorous to they should pay us to use this, shameful.
This is such a joke. Intuit obviously doesn't care enough about their customers to make such a simple change in their product. Shame on you Intuit!
The problem is not to print the check. The problem is that It does not print the memo line that we write in the bill.
The solution is that we have to copy one by one check the memo. You can do it if you have a couples check but not if you have to write 40 checks!!!! It suppose that the software helps and save time.
