Buy nowWhen creating a report it defaults to the modern layout. Then when you switch the layout to Classic View. It does not stay in the Classic view. Once to the Classic View and you want to for example open an expense account that report opens back up in the Modern view. This is frustrating as the Modern reporting is not what I want to view the report in. Is there a way to make the Classic report the permanent default layout?
Basically you can't. With QB, what you see, is what you get. They don't care what we all want.
@jessica142 funny you should ask this! If you go to the Accounts and Reports message board, you will be able to see that this same question has been asked time and time and time again all the back to 2023! Back when Quickbooks was still "testing" the modern view, the overwhelming response from users like you was "We hate this, please don't implement these changes and let us continue to default to the Classic View which has worked just fine."
You can also see Quickbooks' response back then which was "We don't appreciate your feedback and therefore will be moving forward with removing all the features that you're used to and replacing them with changes that no one asked for and no one likes!"
So, here you are. My advice is to migrate to another accounting system as soon as possible that actually listens to users.
When generating a report, we have different preferences for the way it should be presented that's convenient on our end, @jessica142. That's why, I understand why you less like the Modern View report display. Sometimes, adapting to changes takes time. Allow me to share some information about this feature.
You can continue using the Switch to Classic View button to display this kind of format. However, making it as a default in all of your reports isn't possible. Moreover, please know that this feature will soon be sunset and will be updated into Modern View permanently.
In addition, the update accompanies a better performance, more templates, and customization control over what data can be pulled and how to format it. For detailed information, you can read this article: Customize your reports with a modern view.
Additionally, consider checking this article if you want to save the modifications of a particular report: Save a customized report.
I'm always here to provide you with relevant information about the changes and recent updates of our system especially in reports. Just leave a question below, @jessica142. Keep safe and have a good day.
RE: When generating a report, we have different preferences for the way it should be presented that's convenient on our end, @jessica142.
Right. User's do, but QuickBooks Online doesn't. That's the complaint!
RE: That's why, I understand why you less like the Modern View report display.
That's why you understand? Really? Or is it because Intuit has been inundated by complaints that the new reports are terrible?
RE: You can continue using the Switch to Classic View button to use this display in the reports.
Why would you suggest that when it is exactly the complaint? Did you even read the complaint? I suspect not.
RE: However, please know that this feature will soon be sunset and will be updated into Modern View permanently.
So, to summarize: Customers like the classic view. They do not like the modern view. So, Intuit will remove the classic view. Got it.
RE: Moreover, the update accompanies a better performance, more templates, and customization control over what data can be pulled and how to format it,
Moreover, touting the supposed benefits of the new reports does not address the initial concern. It's just corporate-speak that no one asked for, presumably to paper over how terrible and limiting the modern reports actually are.
RE: Additionally, consider checking this article if you want to save the modifications of a particular report:
Additionally, no one asked. And it has nothing to do with modern reports.
RE: I'm always here to provide you with relevant information about the changes and recent updates of our system especially in reports
Based on experience, I doubt that.
