How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

Logan05,

So, do the ads get less annoying over time? It does seem like I am seeing a lot less of them than I was when I first converted from the Desktop version to Online.

schreder2,

The ads stopped after a few weeks. I called Intuit directly a few times about other problems. Avoid getting having your customers pay through Intuit. Intuit held $97K for six weeks.

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

Logan05,

Good to know. I don't accept credit cards, just checks and cash. OK, one person did pay me with an antique typewriter and I was disappointed when the guy I thought was going to pay me with melons showed up with a check.

I have debated using the Intuit credit card payment scheme, I just don't have enough demand for credit cards in my line of work to justify a credit card system.

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

This latest version of Quickbooks online is too annoying with the pop ups.

We cannot open any window without a popup appearing.

If you cannot give a way to disable this we will look for another provider.  It is that much of a problem.

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

Hi there, @1935 1474 6632 324. I can see how pop-ups could affect your business activity. It's not the kind of impression we want to impose.

Let me help you disregard these ads so that you can continue with your business tasks.

Ads help you explore things you can do more with QuickBooks Online (QBO). Although there's no option to remove these pop-ups in QBO, you can still disregard them by clicking the or No, thanks option in the meantime.

Another option is to install a pop-up blocker in your browser. On the other hand, I can show you how to turn this on in your browser. Here's how:

  1. On the left of the address bar, click on the lock icon.
  2. Choose Permission for this site (Mozilla browser) or Site settings (Google Chrome).
  3. Proceed to the Pop-ups and redirects section.
  4. From the drop-down menu, select Block.

If you are using a Safari Browser, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open your Safari browser.
  2. Pick Safari, then Preferences.
  3. At the top, select Websites.
  4. On the left sidebar, pick the Pop-up windows.
  5. Choose Block in the pop-up menu for the website.

Moreover, consider reviewing this resource for more information on managing your business with QBO:  Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.

You can always inform us here if you have further queries about how QBO helps you run your business effectively. We are always here to help.

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

KimberlyS  - QuickBooks Team:  I nor the majority here think you do “See”

YOU:  “Ads help you explore things you can do more with QuickBooks Online (QBO). Although there's no option to remove these pop-ups in QBO, you can still disregard them by clicking the X or No, thanks option in the meantime”.

RESPONSE:  Your customers are intelligent enough to “X” out of the ad.  You are most definitely missing the point.

YOU: “Another option is to install a pop-up blocker in your browser”.

RESPONSE:  Your customers should not have to add any blockers or anything else, for that matter.  We are paying for this software – IT IS NOT FREE!

If anyone wants to “EXPLORE” anything, we do not need QuickBooks help.  Once again everyone on this community board knows how to search for what they need.  THIS IS NOT WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE PAYING FOR!!!

By the way, this is also an issue in desktop.

The majority on here get their issues resolved by other users -  not the Quickbooks team, who usually have no clue as to how the software even works – they are using issued templated responses.

Please do not reply because I personally have no interest in any of your commentary.

*One last thing to pass along to the "powers that be" we would like a "THUMBS DOWN, BOO" option as well as your "Thumbs Up, Cheer" option on this board.

Thank you!

If you click the X, the ad should never come back. Stop bombarding us with ads that we've seen over and over and over.

BTW? Adblockers don't get rid of them unless you block the entire element manually, and it's really easy to render QBO non-functional if you block the wrong thing.

How many times do I have to click the X and tell you, "I DON'T WANT THIS"?

I pay Intuit over $100 a month (plus all the credit card fees you charge) for my small business. WHY are there as many ads as a free-to-play mobile game? I'm PAYING YOU. I should not have to see ads.

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

Hi Kimberly,

You really should look back over the comments before making your post. For one thing, this is an old thread. What you said was already said. My reply then is the same. For one thing, the popup ads for other QB products is not popping up while I browse other sites. The popup are in QB itself. Ad blockers will not block ads for the site I am on. Yes, clicking on the X does close the ad. I just hate having to close an ad for QB products several times an hour. This disrupts workflow. What makes this bad is we are paying for to use QB. Two years ago, I took part is a survey about QB. Those guys were not ready for me. I told them about all the problems I had with QB. The popup ads were one of the things I told them about. Looks like no one paid attention to that. I wonder if there is still the problem I had with Intuit holding funds. Intuit held $94K for six weeks. I called several time and was always told the problem had been elevated to the next level. I asked several times to speak to a manager. No one had the ability to transfer me to a manager. Instead a notice was sent and I should receive a call back from a manager within two business days. It has been over 2 years and I still have yet to get a call. I gave up on Intuit really caring about what their customers think. Their actions tell me all I need to know.

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

Kimberly,

Thank you for your input. I have to disagree that the Ads help explore things you can do more with QuickBooks Online. The users (of any product) know best what helps them, and where improvements need to be made.

What induced me to ask for help on this forum in the first place was more than the unwelcoming pop-up ads that you can temporarily remove by clicking the 'x', which I can ignore most of the time. But what bugged me a whole lot more was the getting paid early option Intuit was trying to insert when I was sending out invoices. First, I have to declare that I have not seen that for the last 2 years, but it was around the time when I made my original post, so a round of applause on that.

Imagine instead of the 'save and send' button that you normally see when you send out invoices to clients on a regular basis, the button you click so often it's easily assumed to be the same button, all of a sudden it's replaced by the 'get paid early' button, with a 3% string attached. Oh, the deception! It also made me wonder: when did a software company become a financial institution?

What you mean to say isnt "we're unable to turn off the ads in QuickBooks" but more "we don't care about the customer's experience and don't want to turn them off"

If you make us PAY for using your service, shame on your for throwing up SUGGESTED add on products to us all the time.  It takes up my screen and I shouldn't have to click NO every time I do my accounting.  I'm moving to another platform in 2024 since QB cares more about ads then keeping customers.

There is an option to turn off pop-up messages for products and services in the General section of Preferences.

xymptl, you are correct.  This has always been checked in every company client I have had unfortunately, that little checked box did nothing for the stupid mess QuickBooks created with this particular issue.

My system straightened out a little while back on the popup issue.  That being said, once again Quickbooks has absolutely no idea (nor do they care) how they waste their paying customers' time with such crap and they really need to stop it!

If only this suggestion worked. Its a nice response but seriously??? Clicking "No thanks or an X" at every screen is more than an annoyance.  Its harrassment.  I've tried a pop up blocker and I'm still getting the annoying pop ups.  I am so disappointed with this upgrade.  You are quickly loosing a customer.  This does not help my productivity.

The preferences section does not remove the QB popups that appear on every screen.  It prevents emails and SMS.

DIFFERENT TOPIC: BE SURE to check Intuit at subscription renewal time!

Apologies to the community for this but, for some reason I am unable to start a new topic in the forum, email to their support team bounces and they are closed at the phones today, so I'm just going to put this out there and promptly cancel my subscription.

There is an attachment (they allow only one). One image is my actual renewal cost this year ($1,080 US) and the other, an email sent earlier today showing the renewal cost ($2,160 US) they plan to charge me.

I am so finished babysitting these absolute unethical morons, and I'm done. Beware when they charge you for renewal!

I did get a hold of customer support and have not yet cancelled the subscription. I must contact sales during the week to resolve the pricing discrepancies. - for transparency to the community here.

Thank you for your screenshot and efforts to post your concern, ScottSa.

I understand the frustration with the company's support and the renewal cost discrepancy. However, I'm going to have to let you contact our QBO Support team about this matter since they have access to accounts. Here, we can address technical concerns, but we're unable to provide assistance with account related concerns since this is a public forum.

Please wait for the support team to become available tomorrow from 6 AM to 6 PM PT.

If you have other concerns, feel free to go back to this thread. Take care and have a good one.

Well allow me to spell it out for you. How about you reimburse my company for all the wasted time that I am paying the bookkeeper? Hmmmmmm? I have used intuit products since the 90's and am expecting to be out the door around the first of the year. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Sad to see what was once a reputable company become the laughing stock of accounting.

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

Today, I log on to reconcile my accounts for December statements, and a whole new series of popups within Quickbooks appear, forcing to figure out how to get back to the normal page I see when I reconcile. Then a box appears offering a suggestion. It has a box to check to stop this box from appearing anymore. Great, at least this may be a one time aggravation. However, as soon as I go to my second account to reconcile, the same STUPID box appears again offering the same suggestions I do not need.

It seems like Intuit is simply doubling down on aggravating their customer base.

I have been warning people to look for any other solution to their accounting needs but Quickbooks. I wish the pain of changing wasn't so difficult, or I would be out of here.

While it may be difficult, it is the only viable solution. QBO will not change their behavior unless they begin to lose market share. I am transitioning now and yes, it is painful. But I am sick of seeing the advertisements every time I change the page. You can tinker with the settings all you want. They will not stop the popups. And lord help you if you have to clear your cookies for any reason.

Great job, Intuit.

You've annoyed me to the point where I'm fed up. I just signed up for Xero and transferred all of my data. As soon as I'm done with my year-end and archiving the rest of my data? I'm done.

Congratulations on losing not only a subscription but an IT person who recommends software purchases to a LOT of people.

I won't be recommending QuickBooks in the future.

It's horrendous that QB is sending us ads in a paid product, especially since they stopped supporting QB Desktop, where we could do our books in peace and only have to pay for upgrades every few years. What a scam.

Being able to focus and be free from distractions is essential when doing accounting, and can be hard for those of us for whom this task is stressful. Shame on QB for making this harder. You should know better.
