Buy now & saveI am trying to close my clients books for 2020 and I can't because there is a negative qty on two items that were incorrectly setup as inventory. They don't track inventory so these items are negative. I am not able to make any adjustments to zero it out because they downgraded to quickbooks essentials and inventory tracking is not included in essentials. I am not even able to make the item inactive and get the this message
"We're sorry. This feature is not included in your Quickbooks Online Essentials subscription."
So how they heck am I supposed to zero out these inventory items or get rid of them so I can close the books??
Let me provide you with information, Lauren potter.
You'll have to be subscribed to Plus or Advanced to inactivate the items. However, since you've downgraded, I suggest seeking advice from your accountant on how we can zero out the inventory items. This way, we won't mess up your financial reports.

The inventory items have a zero value, so there's not any monetary adjustments that need to be made. I simply want to be able to close the 2020 books now that they are cleaned up. But QBO will not allow me to close the books with a negative inventory qty. Is there anyway to get around this?
Hello lauren potter.
I'm here to help you in fixing your inventory issue.
In QuickBooks Online, once you used the inventory feature and downgrade to Essentials, you'll be asked to turn off the inventory. Then, the system will automatically create an adjustment to zero out the quantity.
The prompt should look like this:
Based on your description, the best way I can suggest is to temporarily upgrade to Plus. Then, activate the inventory to make the adjustment. Once, you can downgrade back to Essentials. You can find the detailed steps through these links:
