How to transfer file from GP online to QB's Premier desktop

Hello @Miram2022,

Welcome aboard to the Community. I'd be glad to help you convert the data from MS Dynamics GP to QuickBooks Desktop.

Currently, a direct way to convert your files into our program is unavailable. As a workaround, you can move your data manually using the supported format (Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) file).

You can check with your third-party app support team if they provide data in this format. To learn more about the IIF import and export limitations, check out this link: Export, import, and edit IIF files.

In case you need the steps on how to import IIFs, here's how:

  1. Sign in to your company file as an admin.

Note: If you’re in Multi-user mode, go to the File menu, then select Switch to Single-user Mode.

  2. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities
  3. Select Import, then select Import IIF.
  4. Choose the IIF file you want to import, then select Open.
  5. Hit OK.

Alternatively, you can search for a third-party application that offers migration services. I've checked here and found some apps that can help with the process.

Though, we can't suggest which one is best to use for your business. It would be best to do your research before availing the services. Here are the links you can visit to know more about them:

Also, you can use this article to download sample IIF files and know more about the recommended formats: IIF Overview: import kit, sample files, and headers.

Drop me a comment below if you need further assistance importing data to QuickBooks. I'll be more than happy to help you some more.

You may have 2 ways to migrate data from GP Dynamics to QB Desktop US version:

1. Prepare your data in XLS/CSV and utilize an importer tool

2. Buy a 3rd party conversion service.

The following is a list of what is converted:

Lists
Chart of Accounts
Customers List
Jobs List
Vendors List
Employees List
Other Names
Items List
Assembly Builds
Non-Inventory Items
Item Sales Tax
Terms List

Transactions*
Invoices
Customer Payments
Credit Memo
Sales Receipts
Bills
Vendor Credits
Vendor Payments
Checks
Journal Entries
Item Receipts
Inventory Adjustments
Liability Adjustments
Paychecks (as Journal Entries)
Payroll Liability Checks
Sales Tax Payments
Transfers
*All transactions are converted as Journal Entries. Payments are not linked to invoices/bills and you will need to turn on the preference in QuickBooks to 'Automatically Apply credits' in Bills/Payments to link payments to bills and invoices.

QuickBooks does not allow multiple A/R or A/P accounts in a single transactions. The conversion will split such transactions into multiple transactions.

If you don't prefer to migrate transactions as journal entries, we can help you convert your data half-manually to QB Online first. You can use the convert function to later migrate the data to QB Desktop. You may consider converting data only for one or two years to evaluate the outcome before moving on to the rest of the data. Keep in mind, this option will need more time to complete and our fee will be higher.

What is not converted?
We currently only convert the core accounting information and not the following data types:

Invoice/Bill line item details
Custom templates
Budgets
Location
Bank Reconciliation
Memorized transactions
Non-posting transactions such as Estimates, Sales Orders and Purchase Orders are not converted
Payroll Summary Data
Multi-Currency data is not converted
Customer and Vendor Credits are not applied to open transactions
