I am getting an error when trying to e-file 1099s.

I am getting an error when trying to e-file 1099s. this is the message that comes up. "There was an issue with e-filing your 1099s. Try re-filing. If your account was charged, you won’t be charged again when you re-file. We apologize for the inconvenience." I have been charged the 3 times I have tried.

I am getting an error when trying to e-file 1099s.

We understand the inconvenience and frustration caused by the repeated charges on your account, DG Trim. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to get past this error message when e-filing your 1099s in QuickBooks Online (QBO). 

 

To better isolate the issue when e-filing your 1099s, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to see if the issue is within your browser. We can open a private or incognito window in the browser to open QBO with a clean slate and load fresh data. Here's how:

 

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

 

Then, e-file your 1099s again by following the steps and details in this article: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

 

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime data collection can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. Also, you can utilize another supported browser or device if this doesn't work. This happens when the current browser you're using has a temporary issue with the program.
