We've just recently installed QuickBooks Desktop 2024. I'm trying to print the first check and keep getting this same issue. I've done everything you outlined ... but cannot get the "double sided" switch to activate. It is showing in the 'on' position ... but grayed out so I can't get to it.
I've tried the process of bringing up a report and going through the printer layout ... no luck.
I've confirmed that my software is the latest update.
I've verified data and getting confirmation that data is good.
Attached screen shot shows what I can see for check printing ... I see the same thing when I'm trying to print reports. Can't get the 'double sided' switch to go active so I can turn it off.
Checks print fine for another company that is set up in QuickBooks Online ... but not printing for two smaller companies that we have on QB Desktop 2024.
Thanks for any assistance.
I appreciate the steps you've performed, @osfocory17.
I understand that turning off the double-sided when printing is essential to your business. Let me provide some details to help you with this matter.

I am having the exact same problem. I do not understand the link you provided for a third party solution. Are you saying that there is no fix for this problem for 2024 desktop for mac? Thank you
I am having the exact same problem and went through the same steps listed above. Still not working. I do not understand your suggestion to use a third party app. are you saying that this problem is not fixable for 2024 QB desktop for mac? Or is it a printer compatibility issue? Thank you.
I'm here to share some information about printing checks, @Ren2216.
Can you tell me exactly the error you've encountered when trying to print checks? When trying to print checks in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac are you presented with the error printing checks is not allowed with two-sided duplex printing turned on and the check preview is blank? If so, please take note that this behavior is caused by the printer driver and the macOS. QuickBooks has no control over the software installed on the computer.
In the meantime, you can run the QuickBooks Print & Print Repair Tool from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Check out this article for more information: Fix PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop. You can also set the preset option on the Print Check window to switch from Default to Last Used.

Thanks for your response. I found this article and solved my problem by adding a generic printer that enabled me to disable duplex printing. I use the generic printer whenever i need to print checks, and the specific printer when printing everything else.
https://ebetterbooks.com/quickbooks-errors/print-and-pdf/error-default-double-sided-printing/
Is this printer connected via USB?
I have more than one printer, both on WIFI. How will the Mac know which printer to print to if I just try to add a generic printer?
I am also having this problem, just bought a brand new MacBook Air, transferred company file over from a Windows machine, but refusing to let me print checks due to 2-sided printer being on.
I even tried your link, followed instructions and turned off 2-sided printing for my Brother printer, but still stays on by default in Quickbooks and other applications.
How do I fix this? This may be deal breaker for me if I cannot print checks.

Since you have carefully followed the troubleshooting steps provided by Ren2216 for resolving the printing issue, yet you're still encountering the same thing, and given the issue isn't isolated to QuickBooks and is affecting other applications on your MacBook Air as well, this suggests a more systemic issue, relating to your printer or its configuration.
In this case, I recommend consulting your printer service providers for further assistance. They have specialized knowledge and tools to diagnose and resolve issues affecting your printer's performance across multiple applications. Additionally, they may be able to guide you through more advanced troubleshooting steps or suggest solutions tailored to your specific printer model and operating system.

Ms, Erika,
I was able to resolve it!
It wasn't taking effect for my Canon MF-4880DW and my Brother MFC-J870DW, BUT,
I came home and tried it on my Epson WF-2660, and it did work! MS Word and all other apps all defaulted to 2-sided printing off. And once I opened up Quickbooks, and selected the Epson printer, I was able to start printing checks!
Please review this YouTube link below, where I followed the instructions:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOtD5iZTojg
I will go back to my office soon and verify to see if the settings will work for the Canon and Brother printers.
