I don't see an option to import journal entries as described in QuickBooks support site

I'm trying to follow the guidance here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-ca/help-article/import-export-files/import-journal-en...

However, when I navigate to "Import Data" there is no option to import journal entries. I have disabled account numbers as required. I am using QuickBooks Online Advanced. Is there something else I need to do to do a JE import? Is this feature disabled now? The above support article was updated as recently as January 2023.

Hello there, @someaccountant.

Being able to import Journal Entries (JE) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a great idea. However, it is only available to some QBO regions like Canada and the United Kingdom. As a workaround, you may want to consider using a third-party application to import them.

You can check for supported apps through this link: QuickBooks Apps Store or from the Apps menu.

Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, go to the Apps menu at the left pane to get to the Finds Apps page.
  2. Enter a keyword in the Search address (i.e. Import).
  3. Choose the app you want to use.
  4. Once ready, click on Get ap now.

If it is a great idea, and it is available elsewhere... then why do US users have to put up with a lesser product?

Not only, but to have to pay more for having additional third party access to our sensitive data? This does not make sense, an explanation seems appropriate.

Thank you.

Yes, it's very frustrating when things in the Help pages don't properly say what is available in what country and what tier. And also what TYPE of account can access certain features. So frustrating! Things like UNDO etc etc also has numerous help articles that are inaccurate (only Accountant accounts can use many of them!)

Why should there be a restriction on such an important feature?

Hi there, Emmanuel. Let me share some information regarding importing Journal Entries (JE) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We can see the importance of having an import option that enables you to bring in JE data to QuickBooks. However, this feature is not currently available in all regions. Only in certain areas like Canada and the United Kingdom, this option is accessible because of the numerous requests from the users. Therefore, we suggest providing your feedback to our developers so that they can consider adding this feature to the US version in the future. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon ⚙ in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  2. Select Feedback under Profile.
  3. Enter your product comments and suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit.

We appreciate your patience as we strive towards a release date for this feature.

Moreover, you can check out this link, so you'll keep updated about the status of your request from our development team: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

Drop a reply anytime if you still have concerns regarding JE or any QuickBooks-related queries. We're here to lend a hand. Keep safe.

This is the dumbest thing I have heard.  We make available a basic feature in the uk and Canada but not the US because people havnt requested it. ?  I am shocked intuit did this.  Absolute bs in my mind

Wah an absolute pot of hogwash. Maybe again, we should all move to Xero that has this feature and it is not restricted to a region. i thought Quickbooks wanted to make a statement as one of the best out there, but his just proves the opposite.

@OnlineCFO

If importing JE is critical and you don't want to use a 3rd party solution, QBO is not for your business. You can convert your data to QB Desktop and use the trial version to access your historical data for good. Then you can start from scratch in Xero to lower your conversion costs.
