I efiled 1099s and my vendors say they get an error message when they try to access through the email intuit sent. Is anyone else having this issue?

The error message says "this invitation has expired...it appears the invitation has already been accepted or is no longer valid". This was after simply opening it once and trying to retrieve the 1099

Thanks for checking out the Community space, leslie26.

Let me help you resend the link to your contractor. I'll be glad to walk you through the steps.

Let's start by going to the contractor's profile and email it again from there.

  1. From the left panel, select Worker and then choose Contractors
  2. You'll have to click each contractor's name to resend the 1099 Form.
  3. Click on the hyperlinked Send a reminder beside the contractor's name.
  4. Click Send from the Send a reminder window to resend the email.

Here's an article you can open to know more about inviting a contractor for 1099s.

If you have additional question about this topic, you can visit our FAQs section here: What is a 1099 and do I need to file one?

Thanks....maybe it's because I'm on a mac but that doesn't really work that way for me. Also, they are vendors, not contractors. From the vendor list, and from the individual vendor's account, I don't see anything like "send a reminder".....thoughts?

Glad to see you here in the Community, @leslie26. Allow me to share some details about the error message encountered when sending a reminder to your vendor.

With regards to this matter, I’d suggest making a separate link for sending completed 1099 forms to your vendor.

Meanwhile, you may also resend the invitation again. Let me guide you through:

  1. Go to to Payroll in the left pane.
  2. Click Contractors the select Add a contractor.
  3. Enter the contractor’s name and email in the fields provided, then select Add contractor.

From there, it’ll send your contractor an email in real time. The contractor’s profile will save in both the Contractors tab and the Vendors tab.

For more details about this, feel free to review this article: Invite a contractor to add their own tax info.

Once you resend the email, let your contractor access the invitation using a private/incognito browser. This session disables cache and cookies that can cause weird QuickBooks responses.

Here are the shortcut keys you can use to access one:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

If it works fine this time, I suggest clearing your regular browser's cache to remove the corrupted web files.

If the issue persists, I recommend using another supported web engine or utilize the browser health checkup tool to see if your browser is compatible. Otherwise, you can use a different device to see if you'll get the same outcome.

Additionally, I've attached an article that'll help you handle your contractors in QuickBooks Online. This keeps their data up-to-date: Add, Edit and Inactivate Contractors.

Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns about the information above. I'll be around for you. Have a great day!
