Is the most recent install of POS 19 still available for download?

We'd like to reinstall so we can get some data out of our application so we can transition out.  Where can we find it please?

Is the most recent install of POS 19 still available for download?

Yes, @jiminok. Let me walk you through the process of re-installing the QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) 19.0 so you can retrieve your data.

 

Before doing so, make sure your computer meets the system requirements  to guarantee the program runs seamlessly. Then, visit our Downloads & Updates page to download your version of POS. 

 

Once done, follow these steps to install:

 

  1. Open the QuickBooks installation file on your desktop. Select Yes to All when prompted to overwrite the existing extracted files. Then, click Next.
  2. Read the License Agreement and select I accept the terms in the license agreement. Then, click Next.
  3. Enter your license and product number and click Next.
  4. Choose the type of installation: Only this computer or Two or more computers.
  5. If you choose to install on two or more computers, choose the type of workstation that this computer will be: Server workstation or Client workstation.
  6. Click Install to start the installation. Please note that the QuickBooks POS can only be installed in this file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale (version)
  7. When finished, activate the QuickBooks POS. You may also need to restart your computer and reopen QuickBooks to get started.

Our IT guy was about to install the update but decided to call first about its activation.  He was told that it was discontinued and could not be activated.

 

What can we do?

Here's what he wrote:  " I came to the site to reinstall POS and prior to installing I called the number to revalidate the software to make sure we would be able to and the support agent said that they no longer have access to POS support information and would not be able to validate the software after reinstallation. I just got off the phone with them. Now I am stuck with no idea what to do. "

Yes, the customer agent is correct. QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 was discontinued on October 3, 2023. The following Payments and Connected Services have also been discontinued:

 

  • QuickBooks Point of Sale Payments
  • QuickBooks Point of Sale Gift Card Service
  • Mobile Sync
  • Intuit Store Exchange
  • Webgility E-commerce integration
  • Support plans including live support (phone, email, chat)
  • Vendor Lookup Service

 

You can continue to use QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 without these services after October 3, 2023. However, discontinued products may no longer receive the latest critical security patches and updates, making your system vulnerable to security threats. This contradicts the other answer from your colleague.
What's the point of reinstalling the software if there is no way to reactivate it?
I just came across a file corruption issue and the best solution I could think of is reinstalling.
I paid for the software and I would like to keep using it as it is. I don't really need the product that got discontinued. But if a computer dies I won't be able to install it in another one even if I have a valid license? (which was not cheap if I may add)

I acknowledge the need to be able to use products at their full capacity since after purchase, @adds. At the same time, let me share some insight about installing your version 19 Point of Sales (POS).

 

It's possible to install your POS on another computer even if you're using the same credentials or license. For guidance on how to seamlessly install this product, please visit this website: Downloads & Updates.

 

However, as of October 23, 2023, POS ver 19.0 is discontinued. Thus, you'll no longer be able to receive any security patches and updates from us. At the same time, these services will also stop:

 

  • QuickBooks Point of Sale Payments
  • QuickBooks Point of Sale Gift Card Service
  • Mobile Sync
  • Intuit Store Exchange
  • Webgility E-commerce integration
  • Support plans including live support (phone, email, chat)
  • Vendor Lookup Service

 

Even after October 3, 2023, you can still use POS 19.0 without the mentioned services above.
