We have found that if we use the spreadsheet sync to upload journal entries we get an error saying that the date is invalid. The date is not invalid, it is formatted correctly and appears completely normal when looked at as text. Calling the support phone reveals that this is a known issue and they have been working on it since 1/21/25. I thought I would mention it here because I have not been able to find this information anywhere else. The status page says that everything is fine.
A new twist that I learned today is that, for mysterious reasons, typing in the date (over the date that had been pasted into the template spreadsheet) prevents the error. This would be a very time consuming workaround for our process, but may help for small numbers of entries.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have discovered that our problem was self inflicted. The spreadsheet that was the original source for our journal entries was building a string of text in the Entry Date column. Excel did not convert it to a date when it was pasted into the Journal Entry Template spreadsheet. When I wrapped the text building function with the DATEVALUE() function I got a date that I could paste into the Template and the sync worked correctly. The hint in my original post was " appears completely normal when looked at as text". It should not have, it should have looked like a number.
