I have been using Quicken for Mac. I would like to move the data from there to Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2021. How can I do this? Everything I've found refers to a Windows conversion.
Afaik, there is no direct conversion method to do so. You can use the trial version for Parallels and buy a license for Win 10 Home ($50 or less) to run it on your Mac. Install the trial version for QB Desktop to convert your Quicken file and convert the converted files again to QB Desktop files for Mac later. Another option, purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
It's nice to have you here in the Community, @rtolsch. I can share some information on how you can move your data from QuickBooks for Mac to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac 2021.
To get started, you'll have to convert your Quicken for Mac file to Quicken for Windows.
After that, you can proceed with using a converter tool to convert your Quicken data to QBDT for Windows. You can download a trial version of QBDT from here: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop.
Once done, you're now ready to move your data from QBDT for Windows to QBDT for Mac. I'm adding this link as your reference: Convert a QuickBooks for Windows file to QuickBooks for Mac.
In case you need help while working with your QBDT for Mac entries in the future, you can read through the resources provided in our self-help articles.
If you have any other questions while moving your files, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help you again. Keep safe!
Thanks for all the guidance. I have gone through all these steps and converted my quicken file with the quicken converter but i'm stuck on the last step. When i open QB desktop for Mac (2021) my File->Utilities Menu does NOT have a Convert option at all ( It only has verify, rebuild and condense). I've checked for Quickbooks updates but it says I'm up to date. I'm a bit puzzled, any suggestions??
Hi. thank you for the guidance as i've gone through all the steps you listed but I'm stuck on the last step. When i open QB desktop for Mac (2021) my File->Utilities does NOT have a convert option. I've checked for latest software and it tells me I'm up to date. The menu only shows Verify, Rebuild and Condense. Any suggestions ???
Hi rtolsch,
Thank you for the update. Since we've already provided the steps that we can share from here, I would recommend contacting our QB for Mac Support so they can use more tools to check this further.
If you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to go back to this thread.
You need to convert data from Quicken to QB Desktop Pro as the first step and convert the same file to QB Desktop for Mac.
