Migrate desktop QBDT to AWS

If you migrate your QBDT to AWS, here are some things we found out....

Moving QBs Desktop to AWS from a local (on-site) server necessitates some changes...

  •   Printing:  TSPrint or other terminal server print driver will provide local printing.

  •   Template images for QBs forms (e.g., your logo on Invoices) must be added to the QBs template (Lists/Templates) as the new QBs software does not come with these.  Check other forms that may be used when printing or emailing from QBs, eg, Sales Orders, Packing Lists, Statements, etc.  These changes can be made by anyone and while in multi-user mode.

  •   If you save CC receipts and wish to attached them to an Invoice, the receipt must be printed as a .pdf, saved to a location on the hosting Server, then you can drag it to the attachment window.  Drag-and-drop and cut-and-paste is not available across Remote Desktop Protocol.

  • If emailing Invoices (or any doc) from QBs it will use GMail (default) unless you install Outlook365 on the hosting Server.  Once setup in QBs, the outbound email will appear on the hosting Server (not your own), so know that if you cannot find the email, look behind QBs on the hosting Server.

Hope this helps.
