Moving from QuickBooks desktop to QuickBooks online. Attempted to move company file to online version and received the following error:
QuickBooks Online requires the asset account type for inventory items to be Asset or equivalent. Please change the account type for this item from 'Product' to 'Asset' or equivalent.
I know very little about Quickbooks. I have looked everywhere to find an answer to the questions - How do I universally change inventory from product to asset in desktop? Must I change each item individually? I have hundreds of items.
I can't proceed with switching to online until I resolve this inventory issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, @AboutYH.
I can share some details about changing or editing the account type for your inventory items in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), so you can move your data to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can use the Add/Edit Multiple List Entries feature in QBDT to change the account type for your inventory items at once. This way, you don't have to edit them individually.
Here's how to do it:
To learn more about managing and editing your inventory items in QBDT, consider checking out this article: Add, edit, and delete items.
Once done, you can now proceed with moving your data from QBDT to QBO. You can refer to these articles for further guidance:
