No state sales tax , but there is a Meals tax

Hello,

I am trying to integrate QBO with Square.  Our state (NH) has no state tax...so the tax center won't let me set up any tax for the state at all! Therefore the "Sync with Square" app won't work because it needs the tax center on...so there are a couple thousand small transactions sitting in undeposited funds now and none of the deposits are matching.  Our state has no sales, but it does have a "meals" tax...so meals tax has been collected by Square but no where to match to in QBO.

I have tried asking QBO support a couple weeks ago now.  I screen shared with them for a long time, they could not figure it out, either.   They made a case for it, but won't give me an estimated time.

Does anyone have any idea of a work around?  As I mentioned, it is a couple thousand small transactions so really too much to do manually.

Thank you!

I can see how you want Square to sync to QuickBooks Online (QBO), dg311.

For now, the feature needs for sales tax to be turned on in order for the sync to work. As you've mentioned that a case has already been created with the issue, I would also recommend contacting Square to check with them if they can give suggested workarounds with your case.

To give you more information on how Square works with QBO, please read this article for more information: Sync Square With QuickBooks Online.

For reference, you can also set up and use automated sales tax in QuickBooks Online.
