Numerous serious issues using QB self employed.

The invoicing system just doesn't even work,  it's broken beyond belief.   Not only is it nigh on impossible to actually have it send an invoice to a clients email, that I literally just gave it: I have to send it to myself and then forward it on manually.   But also when the invoice link is clicked,  one of many things can happen.

Firstly and most likely is that it completely fails to link to said invoice and you have to go back several times until it populates the screen with the invoice.

Second is that it just doesn't display properly,  often leaving off my all important bank details so my client then had to ask me why I don't have my bank details on my invoices.

Thirdly,  the pay option never works.   Every one of my clients who have tried to use it have said that it refuses to take payment insisting that my bank details are not correct when they very much are.   It's using the same details it uses to show me my own bank feed.

And forthly, the use of your own logo shows it completely squashed, non existent or completely garbled.

This is not only incredibly constantly frustrating but also comes across as completely unprofessional.   What accounting service claiming to be professional and reliable has these issues repeatedly happen,  misrepresenting my company in terms of use of my own logo, failing on all fronts to help me obtain my all important business income and making look like an idiot to my own clients through using this piece of trash.  This isnt even fit for purpose.

I have plenty more gripes but these are the most important to me right now and there's just too many to go into right now.

Numerous serious issues using QB self employed.

I see where you're coming from, Kev. I appreciate your effort in manually sending the invoices to your clients. Let's work together to fix the several issues you experienced in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

I'd like to know if there's an error shown when you click the invoice link.

Concerning your client invoices that aren't sending, manually emailing them the transaction as a workaround is correct. Additionally, when adding a logo to your invoice, it should be 3MB smaller, and the file must be a JPEG or PNG file.

If the size is correct and the issue persists, we can perform some basic troubleshooting steps.

Let's start by logging in to your QBSE account via incognito or private mode to avoid storing cache files that cause issues when running a web-based program. Feel free to utilize the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Then, try to send an invoice there to your account and see what happens. If this works, clear the cache of your regular browser to eliminate piled-up data. If the issue persists, you can use another supported browser or device.

The troubleshooting steps are also applicable to your invoice display issue.

If the same issue occurs, I recommend contacting QBSE Contact Support to isolate this issue. They have the complete tools to review your account in a safe environment and provide you with a resolution.

Moreover, to learn how QBSE categorizes transactions, you can read this article: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Solopreneur and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

We've got you always, Kev. Just leave a comment below for additional display-related concerns. We'll respond as soon as possible. Take care.
