Online bill pay in Desktop

Hi.  Can I use Bill Pay in 2021 Desktop?  Does it have to be through Melio or can I do it just between QB and my bank?

I have set up the link between QB and my bank, but paying bills online is not an available method for paying bills.

I would appreciate advice.  I've called QB tech support but their only answer is to upgrade to 2022 and I don't know if there are any other options available.

Thank you for reaching out to us, @cmishlati

Thanks for adding more information about your concern. This gives us a clearer view of what happened to the bill payments. Let me help and route you in the right direction to resolve the issue.

There are two different ways to pay your bills. If you have online bill pay, you can pay it through the pay bills window. You can follow the steps below.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu, select Pay Bills.
  2. Select the bill(s) to pay, and then set any discount or credits that you want to apply.
  3. From the Account dropdown, choose the checking account with the online vendor payment service.
  4. From the Method dropdown, choose Online Bank Pmt.
  5. You can add the reference number or change the date if needed.
  6. Click Pay Selected Bills to record the bill payment. The Payment Summary window opens to show the bills that were successfully recorded.

Note: Bill Pay, powered by Melio, is currently available for all 2022 versions of Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Premier Accountant, Enterprise, and Enterprise Accountant.

The problem is that I don't have the following option in our Pay Bills screen:

  1. From the Method dropdown, choose Online Bank Pmt.

Would you know why that might be?

Thank you

Hello, cmishlati.

I've run my test account to verify the issue you've experienced. Upon running some tests, I can see the option from the Method dropdown, choose Online Bank Pmt at my end. Let's run verify rebuild to resolve possible data issues.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Open your company file again.
  2. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities and choose Rebuild Data.
  3. Click OK in the QuickBooks Information window.
  4. Wait until the repair is done. Then, click OK.
  5. Then, go back to the File menu and select Utilities and choose Verify Data.
  6. Click OK if QuickBooks doesn't find any problems. Or Rebuild Now if it finds issues with your company file.

@cmishlati

Someone said Melio will offer the billpay feature for QBD 2020 and 2021 at the end of Q1 2022. We will see.

For the time being, you can utilize this paid app to integrate with your QBD.
