Problem Importing Inventory Items

I wish I could make it better, @940alex.

As of the moment, our engineering team is still working on this on-going investigation and they haven't released any updates yet. Don't worry, we'll be sending you an email message containing all the updates once they're available.

With the release of QuickBooks 2021, we're also unable to provide the specific timeframe as to when it will be available. You can consider keeping an eye on QuickBooks 2020 updates as it has an option to upgrade for the 2021 version.

Lastly, here are articles you might want to check for references while working with your business in QuickBooks: Manage Inventory for QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let us know in the comments if you have any other questions.

I don't know about you guys but how about we stop for a second and think about this. Should Intuit keep releasing new broken versions of their software or stop F*ing around and fix the broken software that they broke when releasing version 2020?

We now have version 2021, Why? Why the heck are we releasing new versions of software that are broken? WHY?!?

This is exactly where you are going to start losing with so many new pieces of software available that are literally marketing to people feeling let down by the one piece of software that small and medium businesses cannot actually do without.

The more you flaunt your market share without taking on the responsibility of maintaining what you have made and relying on customer service agents that are constantly yelled at and berated by the data services department for only doing what they've been told to do through the myriad of mixed messages they get from management and data who both seem to be saying completely different things - you guys are courting disaster and it really doesn't seem like any one there actually cares at all. I'm not even asking for touchy feely response I'm asking for someone to take responsibility for their scew ups and fixing those screw ups befur you actually move on to a new version of broken software. I pay way too much for this kind of crap from this level of company.

* Best Answer - Use Version 2019 - it still works properly, anything after 2019 is broken. *

Problem Importing Inventory Items

I've been trying to paste in a large handful of new inventory items.  Everything goes fine, except somehow QB Pro Premier for MFG 2021 decides it's going to put all sorts of random quantities in the "quantity on hand" fields.  No help to be found anywhere; certainly not from the drones in the Philippines.

Now, I've called QB support before, and that is a total waste of time.  All they are is people that know less than nothing about the product that they are supposed to support.  But they will happily look up keywords and regurgitate to you what they see on their monitor.  Newsflash here for the management at QB:  Information IS NOT A substitute for knowledge.  Until you get people with actual knowledge of your products, you DO NOT HAVE SUPPORT.  It is this simple.

I ran a vibrant business with multiple BOMS, multi-configurable complex hydraulic machines and lots of inventoried items.  I did this for years using PeachTree Premium for MFGs, 2010 version.  IT NEVER FAILED US in the ten plus years we used it.  And that was with no subsequent upgrades.  I still have the original disks, and if I owned the business for which I now work, I would go back to that product in a flash.

I am going to replace the QB garbage that we do currently use with something way more robust, reliable, and that actually has true support.  This may end up being Sage 50 Quantum, with a decent add-on ERP like MiSYS, or, if I can find one that we can afford, it may be something that is truly sole-sourced.

In the interim, I have these observations and opinions to say:

1)  QB is not a good product in my opinion.  Anybody who reads through these threads cannot reasonably come to any other conclusion.

2)  QB enterprise is no better than Premier.

3)  QB is only in its position in the small business software market because of their massive marketing and advertising budget.

4)  QB obviously has no concern for the problems they continually and repeatedly inflict on their customers.  This is self-evident just from this thread alone.  This is a chicken-poop problem, and all they can do is have obsequious CSR's tell us that the engineers are still working on it, some two years later?  Clearly, they are either not working on it at all, or they're galactically incompetent. Heck, I once worked in an environment in which a completely customized system for selling spares to the airlines was written and implemented well within two years.  And that was in 1985!?  These twits can't figure out a simple problem today in more than two years?  They should all keel over and die from embarrassment.

5)  QB Premier for MFG is nothing more than their crappy little landscaper package with a couple of new fields and next to no mfg functionalities.  And, yes, I am qualified to say this:  I have been a power user of MS Dynamics, Infor SyteLine, NewSuite, and plenty more over the years.  Clearly, one should not expect $100k functionality out of a $3k product, but what these turkeys sell should actually work.

6)  To anyone using a QB product or contemplating acquiring one:  Do not do this.  Run as fast and as far away as you can.  If you can't swing a package that will truly do what you need done, at least go get SAGE 50 Quantum in the correct version for your business. Sage, at least, has a growth page into some serious and sophisticated products.  QB is a dead-end product that will only drive you to drink if you need anything more than basic accounting functionality.

Thanks for joining the thread, @danielar123. I’ll share a workaround and ensure you’ll be able to import your inventory in QuickBooks Desktop.

Users may experience discrepancies in their company files as a result of data damage. You can use the Verify and Rebuild tools to get this resolved. Also, please ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is updated.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Window, then Close All.
  2. From the File menu, click Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to back up your data.
  5. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  6. Go to the File menu, then click Utilities.
  7. Click Verify Data, then select Rebuild Now once QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file.

Furthermore, I'm also adding this article for more troubleshooting steps: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

You can use this article to know more about importing or exporting MS Excel files in QuickBooks Desktop.

Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns with importing in QBDT. I'll be around for you. Have a great day!

You are sooo right about this. It is February of 2023 and they still have not fixed this issue. I am going to look for other options and going to highly recommend to the owner to invest into different software. Thanks for the suggestions!

I wish I had your talent in writing. You are very eloquent writer. Would love to share what you wrote here but I would not do it without your permission. (Don't even know if you are still using Quickbooks or are in this forum anymore.

Anyway thank you for your suggestions.!

Karen
