Join nowHello: I'm trying to do a backup of our QB file (desktop Premier Plus Contractor 2020) as I have been doing it for about a year. I have been backing up to our ShareSpace site which syncs onto each of our desktops and that has been working really well. It is set up as local backup.
For the past couple days I've been getting an error message: "To backup your company file, there must be [removed] bytes of space available on \\DESKTOP-CC(remainder omitted)\company files\QBBackupTemp <date, time>, but currently there are only [removed] bytes available. Please free up some space on this drive and try again.
I went in to the ShareSpace drive (via sync'd folder on my desktop) and deleted most of the backups but I'm still getting this error. I verified that they were also deleted from the actual website as well.
This may well be more of a Windows issue than a QB one and is unfortunately likely networking related (NOT my forte.) I looked on my network and I don't see the DESKTOP-CC... computer so I'm guessing it's virtual(?) There is definitely plenty of space in the backup folder as I just deleted probably 10 backups.
Any suggestions as to what I might try would be appreciated.
Hello there, GalinMcMahon.
Allow me to share some insights with backing up files with your QuickBooks Desktop Account.
By creating a backup file and then restore it with a different name, condense the data when the file is too large can fix the issue.
Then, you can restore your company file in the trial version of QuickBooks Desktop 2021 to see if there are differences that may fix your inventory in the latest release of QuickBooks Desktop.
I've added some articles for your reference with our trial QuickBooks Desktop versions and information:
Get back to me if you have any additional questions about backing up your QuickBooks Desktop files. I'm just a post away.
Thanks but these solutions don't address the posed question. Not a space issue, at least not with the actual files, as I'd deleted several backups and no issues with inventory(?)
