Buy nowI am in the process of switching everything to a new computer. I include attachments to all of my invoices to keep paper usage down and we have a lot of invoices as we are a general contractor. My QBDT (2024 version) does not automatically migrate the attachments, as Intuit knows.(Why it doesn’t migrate is beyond me except I know you want everybody to go online.) so with the guidance of an online QB support person we thought we figured out how to do it. Copy and paste the file folders within the “attach” folder in the company file. Now when I go into my new computer and look at the invoices it shows the red tic in the attachment tab but when I open it, there are no attachments. What do I do now? This is absurd. If I can’t do this and am audited I am screwed because this is my backup!!!

I appreciate you for making the effort to transfer your attachments, JoAnnARS. I'm here to provide the fix so you can view them on your new computer.
Once you've successfully moved the Attach folder to your new computer, we'll have to manually link the attachments to your transactions in QuickBooks Desktop so you can view them.
Here's how to attach the documents to your entries:
Please note that you can attach a document to multiple transactions by following the steps outlined above.
If you encounter issues with your attachments, you can browse this article to rectify them: QuickBooks Document Center: FAQs and common problems.
Additionally, I've added these articles to help you ensure the books are migrated successfully to your new computer and check if there are missing entries:

I already bought QB Desktop Pro 2024 and installed it on my old computer a couple of months ago. I just bought a new computer and would like to transfer the license and files to the new computer. The license is for single use, single computer.
I bought single license, single user license and put it on my old computer. I just bought a new computer and need to transfer the license and files to the new computer. Is this possible?
Hey there, @LS20242.
Thanks for reaching out on this thread.
If you're using a US version of QuickBooks Desktop 2018 or newer as a single user, you can use the Migrator Tool to move QuickBooks Desktop and your company file to another computer.
What you'll need:
Review this guide to learn how to set up and use the Migrator Tool.
I hope this helps! Come back and let us know how these steps go for moving your files. I'll be just around the corner if you need me again!
