QB for MAC - How can I get my QB to Auto-populate JE numbers?

Hello,

I recently switch from using QB Online to a QB for Mac Desktop. On the online version my journal entry numbers would automatically goes to the next number in sequence. On the Mac version I have to manually enter the number each time.

Is there a way to set the JE numbers to auto-populate on the mac version so that I don't have to manually keep tracker of which JE number I am on?

Here's how you can change the settings in QuickBooks for Mac to automatically assign journal entries:

Select Transactions from your Preferences window.
Look for Automatically assign general journal entry number and turn it on.

Hi kwh2!

I know a way on how you can set an auto assign journal numbers in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

You can go to the Accounting menu to set the system to automatically enter a journal entry number. Let me guide you how:

Click the Edit menu and then select Preferences.
Go to Accounting.
Under the Company tab, tick the Automatically assign journal entry number box.
Click OK.

I didn't have a "Preferences" option under the "Edit" Tab.

I did have one under the Quickbooks tab, In preferences, I don't have the "Accounting option"
