Join nowI recently had our QB POS item list (inventory) exported to an Excel spreadsheet and imported into QBE23. I tried to use the scanner on an invoice and it didn't work. So I went to the specific item, verified the scan number, deleted it, and manually rescanned it and then it worked in the invoice. Does anyone have a fix for this? Does something else need to be done with this specific item? It appears everything else is working.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, valerie3905.
If your item still isn't being added to invoices when you scan its barcode, I'd initially recommend confirming QuickBooks is up-to-date with its latest release.
Next, you can troubleshoot with the Verify Data utility. It identifies known issues within company files and informs users if their Rebuild Data tool needs to be utilized afterwards.
Here's how it's used:
In the event its results show a "Your data has lost integrity," message, this indicates there's damage in your file. You can use the Rebuild Data utility to fix it. For specific errors, there may already be a resource for them on our support site.
If it displays a "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," notification, or you've searched our help articles and didn't find any existing resources about the specific error it displayed, you can move on to troubleshooting with our QuickBooks Tool Hub.
Here's how:
In the event your item continues not functioning properly after having its assigned barcode scanned, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up the account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
I've also included a detailed resource about working with barcode scanning which may come in handy moving forward: Set up & use barcode scanning
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a lovely day!
I have done all of the above and I still do not have an answer. Customer Service said it was an import issue, and the company that did the import said there should be no problem. I need to have this fixed.
