QBO is importing wrong descriptions or cutting off the descriptions for the simple three column format (Date, Description, Amount)
I also find adding the complete description important since this includes details to specific transactions, @matrimon-yahoo-c.
I can see we found similar issues when importing CSV files in QuickBooks Online, and I appreciate you for sharing this opportunity to make our product work efficiently. In my case, I uploaded a 3 column format type of file and included 30 alphanumeric characters. This truncated the last ten and retained the first 20 characters. The second entry looks like it multiplies the preceding number by a specified amount.
In the meantime, I'd recommend submitting feedback so that our Product Developers will know that having the complete details in the Description field can help businesses determine the transactions. In that manner, there's a great chance that it will be added in future updates.
Here's how:
On your behalf, I also submitted my feedback to support and boost your QuickBooks Online experience. I'm adding this article for more details: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.
Furthermore, I'm adding this guide to manage your transactions in the For review tab and include them in your bank register: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Anything will be alright from now on. If you have additional questions about importing transactions or QuickBooks-related concerns, let me know. I'll help you here. Keep safe and more power to your business!
Thanks.. I sent my input file and how it looks in QBO after importing the same via your feedback process.
I also called in about this issue a week or so ago and the agent said they will forward to the developers.
Will you have an eta on this bug fix ? Weeks months ?
Hello there, @matrimon-yahoo-c. Thanks for sending feedback to our Product Developers.
As of now, we can't give the exact date of the implementation of the feature that you've requested. No worries, this has been acknowledged already, the developers will also base on the number of people who want to have this feature to include it in the future updates of the product.
In addition, I suggest checking our QuickBooks Blog site to know the latest product features.
I'll be one comment away if you need any assistance with any processes in QuickBooks. Take care and have a great weekend!
It's been over a year since the last response and this specific issue with QBO is just getting worse. I'm leaving QBO. Correctly reading data in the bank feed is not a "feature," it's an absolute requirement and QBO is failing badly.
