Join nowQuickBooks Enterprise 2021 on Microsoft Windows 2016 Essential Server. Weekly, the server updates and reboots during the night for operating system updates. After the reboot, the morning crew find the Quickbooks DB31 Service is not running; only one can open the books. Why, how does this happen and how do I stop it from happening in the future? Thank you.

Thanks for the update and for giving it a try, @tsgroup1.
I appreciate you for sharing short term solution about running DB31. I've just got the answers you need regarding the DB engines in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
The previous Data Service Manager doesn't matter in your QBDT 2021 as long as your DB31 is up and running. For more details, you can check out the article provided by my peer above.

To run multi-user access, you'll need a Database Server Manager. This way, multiple users work on the same company file at the same time.
Let me guide you with the steps on how to set up QuickBooks Database Server Manager in QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's how to set up the Database Server Manager:
Step 1: Download Database Server Manager
Step 2: Install Database Server Manager
Step 3: Set your firewall permissions
Step 4: Update Database Server Manager
After completing all the steps, make sure to scan your company files so you can host them over your network.
Please feel free to review this article for the detailed steps: Install QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

Thank you for your quick response. I opened Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Services and I could not start or restart DB31. What I noticed while in DB31 is when I clicked RENEW ports the Service started right back up. It seems to be an issue when the server needs to restart. My short term solution is to double check to see DB31 is running.
One more question. After 2019 and 2020 were installed, and 2019 uninstalled in 2020, DB29 and DB30 still show in the Services window. 2020 was not uninstalled before I installed 2021. What's the best way to get rid of the previous DB engines? Or does it matter? Thank you.
