I remember purchasing Quickbooks Desktop for Mac for less than $200 - one-time fee. This was quite a few years ago. Now, Intuit wants $350 / year (list price) to use Quickbooks Desktop on the Mac (annual subscription). Considering that the core functionality of Quickbooks today is the same as it was years ago, I'm not aware of any justification for the new massive price increase. Intuit's corporate motto "YOU NEED US MORE THAN WE NEED YOU" is not correct. Google "alternatives to Quickbooks" for options. Good luck!

Example of Quickbooks competition:
• AccountEdge Desktop for Windows: $150 (one-time fee)
• AccountEdge Desktop for Mac: $15 / month (subscription).
I have contacted AccountEdge and asked them to offer a one-time fee version of their Mac desktop software.
Of course, I always have the option of running AccountEdge Desktop for Windows in Parallels on my Mac.
In short, we users have options other than QB. I've been satisfied with Quickbooks Desktop for Mac over the years and it's a shame that Intuit has decided to ruin it.
Account Edge's desktop product will not work on Catalina or Big Sur (or, I'm pretty certain, Monterey). They were unable to upgrade it past Mojave. They may have a web version which works - I don't know.
QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2022 is available for $199 from Amazon. It is a subscription now so that's yearly. But it does have many new features added every year (Help->What's New in QuickBooks? menu shows them). There are videos of them in the QuickBooks Mac channel on YouTube as well.
