QuickBooks desktop will not load.

QB online will not load on my desktop. Have tried everything I know (not much). Reloading tab, restarting the computer, different Wi-Fi (2,4 vs 5). Nothing let’s it load. This has been happening for weeks. Time or day doesn’t matter. If I do happen to be able to log in, the page is sloooow

QuickBooks desktop will not load.

Hi there, blackdogpoolsatx.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing troubleshooting steps to ensure that your QuickBooks Online works appropriately as soon as possible so you can get back on track.

If you're using the QuickBooks Online desktop, there are times when your QuickBooks Online desktop app has a lot of data which may cause the software will not load properly. To fix this, I recommend resetting the app data to clear the cache and refresh it into its default state. Beforehand, you'll have to make sure that the mobile desktop meets the system requirements or the version is supported with QuickBooks.

To do the reset app:

  1. Click Help on the navigation bar at the top.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Allow a moment for the process to complete, and then close the app.
  4. Be sure to right-click the app and Run as Administrator when re-opening.

If the same thing happens after performing the steps above, I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the QBO application.

If you're utilizing QuickBooks Online through the browser, I suggest logging in to your QuickBooks account using an Incognito. This way, you're able to verify if the issue is caused by a full cache. This might be also the reason that one of the pages or sections is slowly working.

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works in incognito, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. You can check this article to see the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

I'm also adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help guide for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about advanced accounting, banking, and payments to name a few.
