When migrating from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), it's important to be aware that there are specific limitations and one of those pertains to payroll transactions. Unfortunately, payroll data, such as the payroll summary and payroll tax liability history doesn't seamlessly transfer during this migration process.
In QuickBooks Desktop, if you prefer not to subscribe to an automated payroll service, you can set up manual payroll. This allows you to create paychecks without a subscription. I'm here to help guide you through the process:
- Go to the Edit menu, then choose Preferences from the dropdown.
- Click on Payroll & Employees and navigate to the Company Preferences tab.
- Within the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Features section, check both the Full payroll and Manual Payroll options.
- In the pop-up window labeled "Get payday peace of mind," click Next, then click Activate on the following confirmation screen.
- Click OK to confirm the changes.
- Click OK again to close the Preferences window.
