Q: How do I use the QuickBooks Desktop migration tool?

Q: What browsers are compatible with the new Desktop migration tool?

A: Although the new migration tool supports multiple browsers, it's recommended that you use Google Chrome to avoid roadblocks.

Q: Can I use the QuickBooks Desktop Migration tool to save a copy of my QuickBooks Online data?

A:   The QuickBooks Desktop Migration tool won’t save a backup copy of your QuickBooks Online data. You can use it to copy your data to a QuickBooks Desktop company file. You'll need QuickBooks Desktop to view the saved desktop file.

If you use QuickBooks Online Advanced, you can turn on the Backup and Restore app to:

  • Save backups.

  • Restore your data from a specific date and time.

Q: Does Intuit recommend a third-party app for saving my data?

A: No. We don't endorse any third-party apps. We want you to evaluate any third-party app and make sure it's the right fit for your business. There might be a cost for these apps.
