I was cutting a check in QB and a box popped up and told me to close all windows and go to utilities and click on this and that and then if that did not work call Intuit at 1800 ---
I did call and the man on the other line said that he needed to have access to my computer .. 2 weeks ago I experienced the blue screen of death and a computer crash and lost everything except QB which was backed up on a USB .... Thank goodness. So I thought I was speaking to Intuit Tech. So he proceeds to tell me that what I pay annually does not cover this high tech help... Needless to say he wanted $1500 for 12 months, $2500 for 24 months and $3000 for 60 months and I would have access to tech support and if I paid for the 60 months I would not have to pay the annual for 5 years. So I say you are telling me you wont help unless I pay you. Yes that is correct. I told him I would have to call him back. I then started a chat in QB with support and 2 hrs later were able to fix whatever it was that started this nightmare. My tech support (Lifesaver) told me never call the number.it was a virus. Not really sure how it got there, but thinking about what he said about how I could pay, no credit card had to be Electronic Check (Hmmmm) that is how they would have access to account # and routing #.... I have never fallen for these scams, but Wow!! It was so real!! Minding my own business cutting checks and Bam!!! There it was .. so glad I ended the call. BEWARE!!! You won't know the difference. i 100% thought I was talking to support at Intuit...
This happened to me today with a company called Internal Accounting Services. They wanted to charge me $2800 to repair my damaged files. They had control of my computer for a while before I figured it out.
What problems did you encounter with your company file?
I had this experience as well. What I wonder is why they asked to spend an hour on my compuer and spent the time running repair software. Was it really repair software? Are they temporizing waiting for the cheque to clear? I hope they didn't damage anything.
Intuit only uses QB ToolHub as the repair tool on your machine. Moreover, you have been dealing with an unauthorized support team.

Marv, QB scams people and provide updates to destroy files and then force you to buy more.
QB keep milking small businesses.
Just today I received a phone call from Dennis at Quickbooks. He walks me through him getting on my computer and then shows me all of these "errors" and tells me I need to have Data Protection for $299.99. I asked him if we had it before and he says yes. I asked him if I had it before why don't I have it now? He couldn't answer me and just kept repeating himself. His number comes in as "Quickbooks". I asked him who he works for. He stammers and says "I don't understand what you're asking me" I said WHO DO YOU WORK FOR? WHO SIGNS YOUR CHECKS? IF I GIVE YOU MY CREDIT CARD, WHAT COMPANY NAME WILL THE CHARGE COME THROUGH? At that point he tells me that I need to fill out this form for an ACH check to be cut to them. I told him I don't pay bills without an invoice. He sent me an email. It looks hokey. How on earth do I know whats real? This is freaking me out!! AND LOL AT "DEAR VALUED CUSTOMER" as the opening line.. Pretty sure they would use the company name? Please help!
@KitchenWitch87 It sounds like a typical fraud call. Please don't give them any of your information. It's bad enough that the can contact you like they did.

sudden after 4 years my cash account goes ~ 40k higher than it should be. and none of the past reconciliations register balances match. turned out to be that the bank feed download had posted duplicate records since the first month in 2020 through today. had to delete hundreds of duplicate transactions. tech support was no help, they just told me to check with my accountant. i am cpa. well from now on i will download cash account register monthly as backup.
same deal here only in the desktop version! still dealing with the repercussions and support has been zero help. I'm currently out the $500 I spent on the "non corrupt" license number and the amount I had to pay to go to QB online still cant run payroll because cant get it straightened out all QB could say is that there were 2 company files and that's why some payroll data is missing. Cant start using payroll online until you can input the data from desktop but cant find all the data. been dealing with this since early July and lost countless man hours not to mention my sanity being shuffled back and forth between departments with the next not having any more a clue than the one before. I finally said the hell with it and quit calling support because they were no help. I have no faith in QB period anymore and as I hate that this has happened to others its nice to be able to vent to others who understand!
Did anything happen to your account?? I just talked to them today, they wanted $1600 for 6 months and to repair my damaged files. He was logged into my remote desktop, so now i am worried.
I thought I was talking to someone from quickbooks, then he took me to the Internal Accounting Services website to pay and i told him I would call back.
This is a scam be aware!!
some QB sales sell your info to Indian hackers and fraudsters.

What happens to your company file? You should seek assistance from a reputable third-party service provider.
This just happened to me!! I called in and the Yash Singh said i would receive a call back from their technical department then i was called back from an OUTSIDE company NOT QUICKBOOKS who said i have over 13,000 corrupt files and the reason my account wasn't reconciling was because of these errors. At the time i was confused since it is an online database and it didnt make sense --- now it ABSOLUTELY isn't right. Today will be the last day i use QuickBooks, my trust has been lost and i will be telling everyone i know.
QB given access to 3rd parties and marketers to scam people.
You spoke to this Yash Singh on February 1st and you canceled your QBO account on February 2nd?
I had a similar problem with this scam. I was having some problems with Quickbooks and was having trouble getting it solved with automated on-line help. I needed to talk to a live person. I went on the internet to try to get a telephone number to call Quickbooks and be able to talk on-to-one with a person on the other end. Unfortunately the phone call took me to an outfit called Internal Accounting Services. They claimed on the telephone that they were working with Intuit in providing customer assistance. They then proceeded to tell me my data base was corrupted and it would cost me $ 555 to fix it or I could get an annual service contract from them for $ 850. I immediately smelled a rat and hung up. The person I talked to had a heavy Indian accent. I have been aware of many scam artists coming out of India with such schemes. BE CAREFUL!!
Fortunately I was able to fix my Quickbooks problem by myself without paying out $ 555 or $ 850.

Don't try to call any number you find on the internet casually. You should always check the community to verify.
Omg they will not stop calling me and telling me that my account is red flagged. I have told this man Dennis Johnson that I have reported him to QB and to STOP CALLING ME.
