I am hoping that next year QBO will allow more than one account for 1099-NEC vendors. NEC vendors are not just "one type". Some are subcontractors that help you accomplish jobs, some are accountants, some are electricians or repair people, janitorial, the list goes on and on. It is important to my clients to show this detail on their P&L's. I did "the journal" moving all the NEC's into one account with the vendor name, then backed them out to show in their appropriate accounts, but that is a bit ridiculous to have to do that. The JE I did was only for about 6 vendors, so not too bad, but some of my clients have 30 NECs. Please fix.

Hello there, PJBooks.
I'd like to verify which accounts are you referring to when mapping your 1099 accounts so I can walk you through the correct steps. If you're referring to preparing your 1099s, you can select multiple accounts on each payment types for 1099 NEC. You can refer to the screenshot below.
Once done, you can now file your 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC forms.
Here's more information about the boxes on Forms 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC: Understanding payment categories for the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.
I'm always here if you need further help or questions with your forms. I'm always here to help. Have a great rest of the day!

Thank you for your response. Maybe I was just looking at it incorrectly. Working fine now. Pardon my error.
I just tried to print the 2021 1099 NEC and I'm using Desktop version 2022.
It does not print 3 Vendors per sheet - it is still only printing 2 Vendors per sheet so the alignment is off.
There is NO way I can align it to fit properly on the preprinted 1099 NEC forms.
Help!
Hello, STMTS.
I know that you need to print the 1099-NEC forms as quickly as possible. You'll have to make sure you have the latest releases and critical fixes to be able to print 3 forms. Ensure to enable the Reset Update feature.
Here's how:
Once done, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. Click Yes to install the updates, then reboot your computer.
If it doesn't work, it could be that the Windows Firewall isn't allowing the updates even if it says updated. That said, you may temporarily turn off the firewall and update again.
I'd appreciate it if you'd update me with any additional information on the issue, so I can get you taken care of. Take care!
I went through the above steps and there was "Nothing new to download". Did an update anyway. My Windows 10 firewall is turned off because I am using another Security application.
I'm using Release R3P - Activated R3_65
Let me know what to do next, please!
Sue
I appreciate you following the troubleshooting steps shared by my colleague above and sharing the result with us, @STMTS.
I'm here to help make sure you can print the 3 part 1099-NEC.
I can see that the release version of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) doesn't meet the requirement. For QBDT 2022, it should be R3_(71+). In this case, let's manually install the update patch outside QuickBooks and see if it makes a difference. Here's how:
Once done, go back and check the release version of your QBDT. If you get the same result, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can further check on this matter and help you make sure you'll be able to print 3 part 1099-NEC.

Hi Catherine,
Can you Help with
How can I get both the Person's name & Business name to show on the 1099 form?
Because on their tax return is in their Personal name but they use their EIN because they are an LLC?
Please advise
TIA, Carol
Thanks for chiming in on this thread, Carol.
Let me share some info about the vendor setup.
If the W-9 your vendor shared with you includes an EIN, then you'll have to select the Business option. This means that QuickBooks Online will by default enter the business’s name as the vendor name you have on file.
Adding both the Person's name & Business name is unavailable when creating the 1099 form.

Please let me know if there's anything else you need. I'll be around to help you out again. Take care and stay safe.
I did the steps to manually update my 2022 Version and NO updates took place.
I am still in the R3P release. I forgot to mention I am using the Accountant Desktop version 2022.
It looks like support is not available until Monday, correct?
Yes That's Correct support is Not available until Monday
Okay - I figured it out.
Under the Update Now Tab - I had to check the Reset Update box and then Get updates.
This worked and I saw that I was getting updates, I then rebooted the computer, and I am now on Release R3_78.
The 1099 NEC forms printed 3 per sheet. The only other thing I had to do was a slight alignment and all is good.
So glad I was able to get this fixed and get these done!
Thank you.
