Buy nowHi,
I started at this office 2 weeks ago, so a little foggy on history.
My CPA company uses Enterprise 2024. Our client uses Desktop Pro Plus 2024.
She upgraded to Pro Plus 2024 after sending, but before receiving and importing, our 7/31/2024 change file.
When she tries to upload our change file, we receive an error messages about restrictions. Currently the banner across the top reads "Accountant's Changes Pending"; we cannot clear this.
In speaking with the prior bookkeeper, there are no changes in the 7/31/24 file. How do I fix this so we can move forward? Will she be able to upload a change file from Enterprise 2024 to Desktop Pro Plus 2024?
Thanks.
The Accountant's Changes Pending reminder will remain in place until the accountant receives the file back, imports their changes, and the Accountant's Copy restriction is removed, KJ.
If they want to remove the restrictions, please note that the changes made by the accountant will not be imported into the company file, and this action cannot be undone. It is advisable to discuss the removal of these restrictions so that you can send a new Accountant's Copy.
To remove the restrictions, follow the steps below:
For more information about the limitations of an Accountant's Copy and how to fix the Accountant's Changes Pending message you are encountering, please refer to this link: Fix Accountant's Changes Pending message in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.
Also, importing an accountant's changes will work in different versions as long as the gap is only one year, and your QuickBooks version is not higher than the version used by your accountant. Therefore, she will be able to upload a change file from QBDT Enterprise to QBDT Pro Plus.
Please keep me posted if there's anything I can assist you with regarding your account. I'm always here to help.

I am confused. Who are she, we, and us in your sentence?
If your client uses Pro Plus and sends you an accounting file, your company should open it on Desktop Accountant , not Enterprise. If you said that your company has made changes to your client's company file, your client will receive a different error message when trying to open the file you sent back.
I see where I was unclear.
I work at a small CPA company (started 2 wks ago so very new). One of our clients has an issue dating back to last year. She uses Desktop Pro Plus.
After she sent us the accountant's copy, but before we returned it, she upgraded to ProPlus2024. Now the restrictions are removed and she cannot install our 7/31/2024 change file. When she opens her file the banner across the top indicates the Accountant's Changes are pending.
The person I am taking over from in the office said there were no changes on the 7/31/24 file anyway.
What does she (Client) or we (CPA Office) need to do to reset this?
Thanks.
Hi, thanks for responding.
The restrictions are already removed because our client upgraded before we returned the Accountant's Changes file.
She cannot import our change file.
To correct, does we need to start again - eg, if the client creates a new Accountant copy, and we create a new Accountant's Change file, would she be be able to install that?
Thanks, KJ
Thank you for providing that update, KJ_Leesd. You are correct. Your client should be able to install it. Just wanted to clarify something, and I notice SIAD mentioned it as well. Are you using a Desktop Accountant version?
Hi SIAB,
we have desktop enterprise solutions accountant 24.0
To confirm, this will clear the message "Accountant's Changes Pending"
1. Client creates new accountant copy and sends to us. They do not make changes prior to the cutoff date.
2. We install the file, and send back as Accountant changes.
3. Client installs the changes file.
Correct?
Thanks KJ
As I know, you can open the accountant's file by converting it in your Desktop Enterprise Accountant. However, your client won't be able to open the files you send them on their Pro. It's best to ask your client to send you their accountant's file to test first. If your client can't open the file you send them back, you will need a workaround.
