bank feeds

So, I changed my bank's log in username. I realized in the end that I wouldnt be able to sync it in my QB desktop for bank feeds. I then went to my account in quickbooks and updated my username in my bank feed settings. But I still couldnt sync my QB to bank feeds after I changing it to the right username. Do i have to wait for a certain time for this update to take effect?

Hello Jacob Q!

Thanks for reaching out to us again. Let me help you in setting up the bank account.

You'll need to disconnect the account from your bank feeds so you can make changes and update the login credentials. You can follow the steps in this article: Deactivate Bank Feeds for an account.

If you have done the same process and this issue occurs, you'll want to create a dummy account and merge them together. But first, disconnect the account from the bank feeds again. Then, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. From the Account drop-down, select New.
  3. Choose the Bank, then Continue.
  4. Enter any Account Name, then Save & Close.

Once done, go back to the Chart of Accounts. Find and copy the name of the account you want to keep. Right-click the dummy account and select Edit Account. Paste the name you copied, select Save & Close, then Yes to confirm the merge.

Then, reconnect it to bank feeds.

I also added this link if you need more help in managing your linked accounts and reconciling them:

bank feeds

I deactivated my bank feeds but when I tried to set a bank feed again with the right credentials, QB is telling me that they are wrong. I have tried using these credentials to log in my bank and it went through. Do you think I need to wait a little longer for the update to take effect? I just changed my bank's username a day ago.

Thanks for coming back,  Jacob Q.

Yes, we can wait for the login credential to sync in the software. Then, try connecting your account to Bank Feeds again. Here's how:

  1. From Banking, go to Bank Feeds.
  2. Tap Set up Bank Feeds for an account.
  3. In the Enter your Bank's name field, enter and select your bank.
  4. Select the Enrollment Site link if it will show during the connection and tap Continue.
  5. Enter your Online Banking user ID and Password.
  6. Select Connect to connect your QuickBooks to your bank's server.
  7. Select the bank account you want to connect to your account in QuickBooks.
  8. Press Finish after the connection finishes.

While waiting for the connection, we can also have web connect (.QBO) files (if your bank offers Web Connect). This allows (.QBO) files download to your computer and import the transactions so they become available in your Bank Feeds. Here's how:

  1. From Banking, select Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Select the QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  3. When prompted to select your bank account:
    • Use a QuickBooks account that exists if the account you're importing transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
    • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into isn't in QuickBooks yet. Learn how to create an account.
  4. Press Continue. You'll see a dialog box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Tap OK.
  5. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

Feel free to visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your company's income and sales transactions.

You can always update after trying the steps as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Have a great day ahead.
