CANNOT get IE 11 to open QB 2021

We'd really want you to have IE 11 and open the software successfully, gee7.

I can see that you've already reached out to Dell about installing Internet Explorer on your computer. I'd still recommend reaching out to them again so they can check if there are more options left for the required browser.

Is it your newly machine? Which Windows 10 version do you have? newer or older than version 2004?  

I’m not sure what version of windows 10 it is, but the computer was bought around March 2016.

Still no luck… several people have tried everything😢… The real culprit is Intuit. I only say that because it should be compatible with other browsers besides Internet explore. That is a flaw in the system. I can’t be the only one that’s had this difficulty. 
please don’t get me wrong, as Intuit and its support people have been very diligent in their efforts to help, which has been greatly appreciated. I have been a faithful user of QuickBooks since 1993. I find it disheartening to realize I may have to get another computer just so I can run by quickBooks 2021 desktop. I appreciate you checking in on me.

Check on Settings > System > About. Find your Windows Specifications:

Edition = ?

Version = ? 

Windows Home Edition

Version 21H1

Have you tried to run the System File Checker tool?

I am quite sure the things all the support people have tried include that. What I have decided to do is back up all the things on my computer to an external hard drive I want and need. I will then restore the computer to out of box status and start clean. Once that is complete I will reinstall all the software including QuickBooks 2021 desktop.

It’s been a very trying ordeal. I will advise if I was successful. In the meantime, I warmly appreciate all your efforts in keeping up with this. It is greatly appreciated.

Microsoft has recently blocked the ability to Install IE11 somewhere in the latest security updates. I have not narrowed down witch KB is the culprit, only that it occurs on multiple Win 10 systems with the latest build and updates.

As I type this I am configuring my client's Windows server to function as a workstation just so they can get their payroll done.

You cannot install IE11 it via executable, OG control panel windows features, Or the new Windows 10 Settings add remove windows features, or even via power-shell. The Ball is in Intuit's court now but they seem too busy pointing fingers to realize this is a larger issue.

Microsoft is not going to help anyone with a retired product, they barely help with their active ones. What needs to happen is QuickBooks moves away from this dependency on IE and move to Edge. Until then those like me are screwed, or have to restore / remove security patches and compromise themselves in the process.

Spent 3 hours explaining this to Intuit support last night.

Are you using 21H1 or 21H2? Yesterday we can still able to install a new license for QBD 2021 on 21H1 without any issue. We don't recommend any of our clients to update to 21H2 or upgrade to Win 11 at the moment. 

so the plan is to tell people not to install windows security patches?

MS still supports 21H1 and we can still update the available security patches.

there are numerous other posts so i won't get into it too much.

bottom line is that maybe today it's not a security patch that needs to be uninstalled but at some point, it will be and intuit doesn't seem to give a darn.

the continued reliance on IE is a joke and an embarrassment. 

there's basically no long term plan that QB is shared so people should be prepared to move to another platform
