In the checks window, the columns run off page and down to the bottom. Can't access class, or save and next/save and new icons at bottom.

Changing the display settings and adjust your view preferences in QuickBooks are the things we recommend to resolve this kind of unexpected behavior.
Once done, open your QuickBooks account and try to access the check window again. If it works, then you're good to go. However, if the issue persists, just proceed to Steps 2 and 3 of this article: Fix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop.
You can also run the Verify and Rebuild tool to remove common data issues in your QuickBooks company file.

These steps are not in line with QB Premier desktop 22. There isn't a quickbooks.exe file. Any updated directions available?

In your case, you'll want to show the hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows to display the QuickBooks.exe file.
