Commerce sunsetting ?

(Stepping in as a Moderator to help clarify the situation - I am also removing our original response as it has lead to some confusion.)

Please continue reading below to clarify what is and isn’t being discontinued:

We previously discontinued TradeGecko and offered a standalone QuickBooks Commerce inventory management system as a bundle with QuickBooks Online. But, we’ve made the strategic decision to discontinue QuickBooks Commerce as a standalone product and focus on building e-commerce capabilities directly within QuickBooks Online.

The standalone QuickBooks Commerce inventory management product is being discontinued and won’t be available for use after August 31, 2023.

However, we now provide e-commerce accounting features inside QuickBooks Online, which includes the ability to automatically bring in your payouts from your connected online sales channels (Amazon, Shopify, and eBay Connectors). These connectors are NOT being discontinued.

Commerce sunsetting ?

Hi there. I appreciate you reaching out to us. I'm here to ensure you're able to export your data out of your QuickBooks Commerce account.

As QuickBooks Commerce discontinues after August 31, 2023, you'll no longer be able to access your Commerce account after the discontinuation date. However, if your QuickBooks Commerce is bundled with a QuickBooks Online subscription, this accounting feature will be available in the online program. And will also include the ability to automatically bring in your payouts from your connected online sales channels.

If you're not subscribed to an online subscription, you can import your data by signing up for a QuickBooks Online plan.

Thus, you can use the Data Exporter tool to assist you on how to export your data files in bulk. To do that:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Commerce account and go to the Gear icon. Then, open Settings.
  2. Select Data Exporter and click Export Account Data.
  3. You will then get a pop-up message that says the export has started in the background. Refresh the page to see the status of the export.
  4. Once the status is updated to Complete, select the export row (s) to see a list of the download links.
  5. Links to download the exported data will expire after a week of generating the export. You can still generate a new export to get fresh links.

Also, you can download these data using a CSV file. You'll want to visit this article for more detailed information: Data Exporter Guide - QuickBooks Commerce Offering Discontinuation.

Moreover, once these data are exported, you can import them to your QuickBooks Online account.

If you require additional assistance or have other QuickBooks concerns, please don't hesitate to reply in the comments below. We'll be right here, willing to help you at any time. Take care.

What exactly is Intuit doing with Commerce?  You state, "...QuickBooks Commerce discontinues after August 31, 2023..." but then contradict yourself by stating, "If you have a QuickBooks Online subscription, this accounting feature will be available in this program."  Intuit already closed out Commerce which was TradeGecko in 2022 as a standalone product and forced subscribers to sign up for a Quickbooks Online account to continue to use Commerce so upper management could have Commerce as a tab inside Quickbooks Online.

I have already experienced the export of data from Commerce to then reimport the limited data(no historical data) to the same exact program.  If I have a Quickbooks Online account with Commerce is this feature going to be available after August 31, 2023?

CEO Goodarzi either has no idea how to run this organization or has put together the most incompetent management team who has bumbled every step in your company's acquisition of TradeGecko.  I'm so glad after this experience to not own any shares of Intuit.

This is a relief. Thank you for stating that "If you have QuickBooks Online bundled with QuickBooks Commerce, you can continue using the software even after August 2023." and also another moderator stated that "I want to let you know that bundled QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Commerce subscriptions will not be affected by the discontinuation of the standalone QuickBooks Commerce accounts on August 31, 2023."

We use Commerce for our inventory and purchasing tasks. We also use the B2B ecommerce site. Our business relies on these things. I just want to clarify, very specifically, and in no uncertain terms, that these features are going to continue to work for us after August 31, as stated in previous replies by your staff. Thanks.

Thank you for responding. What do you mean by "accessible?"  We use Commerce for our inventory and purchasing tasks. We also use the B2B ecommerce site. Our business relies on these things. I just want to clarify, very specifically, and in no uncertain terms, that these features are going to continue to work for us after August 31. Please, just a yes or no answer, will these features continue to work for us?

This 100% does NOT answer our question when it's the opposite of what your phone and chat support are saying.

Thank you for this reply. It didn't really clear up my question though. I will ask it this way. Is it true that, after the discontinuation, we will no longer be able to use the inventory, purchasing and b2b website functions? Is it true that those features will no longer work at all, after August 31st? Please just answer that question with a yes or no. Please do not send me another link to help articles. We are already bundled with Quickbooks Online and Commerce. That part is all clear. We are bundled, all taken care of. Will those features still work after August 31? Just a yes or no, please. Thanks again!

Why won't you answer a yes or no question? All we get is a generic press-release answer about strategic decisions. This is absolutely not helpful.

It would be nice if as company that you start being honest and straight with customers.  You are removing the original posts because they provided incorrect information (by both moderators and Intuit employees) that if you have the bundle you can keep using Commerce after August 2023.   Phone and chat responses that were provided by Intuit reps. were poorly worded further adding to the confusion. This unfortunately is a perfect example of failed leadership all the way up to CEO Goodarzi.

The company line of "strategic" decision is quite laughable.  As a company Intuit has bumble every single step with its acquisition of TradeGecko.  Why would you spend as company over $80 million dollars of shareholders money to acquire a software company to then just dissolve it?   Quite an expensive purchase just to force users to sign up for an accounting service.  What a shame for all of those TradeGecko employees in Singapore who lost their jobs from this Intuit acquisition which was ultimately for absolutely nothing.

Why would you put customers through the headache of exporting out their data last year (2022), to have just limited data (no historical sales or purchase order) reimported by the customer so that Commerce could be a tab inside of Quickbooks Online, to then once again tell customers that they will need to export out their data this year (2023) because Commerce will no longer be available after August?  From my perspective this looks like Intuit just got in over its head.

Did Intuit even try to find a buyer for the TradeGecko software that they clearly have no clue on how to utilize it to its fullest potential (to at least try to recuperate some of shareholder funds)?  How a CEO can lose over $80 million dollars for the company he works for and still have his job is beyond me but that basically sums up Intuit under CEO Goodarzi "leadership".

So Intuit is now offering an "e-commerce" accounting aspect for sales orders which does nothing for customers like myself who rely on this service to do Purchase Orders, manage Stock Levels to different marketplaces?  This "strategic" move could have been done minus the purchase of TradeGecko.

A response to my questions would be greatly appreciated that is the least you could do for customers.

Will order management be included in Quickbooks Online? It's really disappointing that you have decided to cancel such a vital service and offer your customers zero solutions to replace it.

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, irish26

.

Once QuickBooks Commerce is discontinued, order management will be performed in your e-commerce channel(s), such as Amazon, eBay, Shopify, etc. Currently, the only supported sales channels that can be connected with QuickBooks Online are Amazon, eBay, and Shopify.

You'll be able to download your payouts and add them to accounts. You can access the Orders screen in QuickBooks to view individual sales orders. While you're able to view orders and their details, they can't be downloaded into your books. Inventory and products aren't uploaded to sales channels. You can continue to track inventory in QuickBooks.

For more information about how things will work after the discontinuation of QuickBooks Commerce, I'd recommend checking out our following resources:

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have an awesome Thursday!

"order management will be performed in your e-commerce channel(s), such as Amazon, eBay, Shopify, etc."... these are truly the most ridiculous answers to our questions.

Good Lord!  This is nonsensical and infuriating.  Can Quickbooks just put out a list of what features are in Quickbooks Commerce and what will be in Quickbooks Online??  It absolutely should not be up to the customers to track this information down and try to read the tea leaves to figure out if they will be able to run their businesses in QBO.  I need to be able to enter wholesale orders directly into QB and create packing slips and invoices.  I don't do that through my consumer-facing Shopify store or Amazon.  Can I do that or not?  Can I track my inventory in QB and have it sync to my connected e-commerce channels?  Yes or no?  What else can I do now that I won't be able to do in QB??  QBC/Tradegecko is not just an accounting solution and it is disingenuous to pretend like that's all that we, YOUR CUSTOMERS, use it for.

We're on the same boat here.  We're heavily using Commerce for inventory management on Shopify and Ebay as well as purchase order, wholesales invoicing for our customers.  QB should at least provide detail instruction on the migration steps for those who are on Commerce and moving 'some' functionalities to QBO with E-commerce accounting.  QB provided the instruction to backup and what do you expect us to do with that.  I don't imagine to be able to import these data into QBO seamlessly.

I have asked supports multiple times and didn't receive a direct answer on what to do with our Commerce data and functions to handle our ecommerce business moving forward with QBO.  I haven't tried the Inventory tracking within QBO yet but sensed that this function is very limited and not even close to commerce inventory control.  That probably the main reason QB is dodging to give us a straight answer.

Same here. We use QB Commerce for inventory management, purchasing, wholesale order entry and invoicing, B2B commerce, etc. It's a (maybe "the") key piece of software that enables our business to operate. Accounting for Ecommerce in QBO is just a little slice of the TG functionality. It's crazy how much is "going away" with this sunsetting. It's a shame, really.

What software does QB commerce recommend for a retailer to switch to for inventory management?

Hey there, donnajill425.

Thanks for joining this thread. I'm glad to provide some info about software for inventory management.

I recommend checking out available third-party apps that integrate directly with your QuickBooks account. There are several options to choose from to help out with inventory management.

If you're using QuickBooks Online you can take a look by clicking the Apps tab in the left navigation menu. This link will take you there as well: QuickBooks Online Apps

Of course, you're welcome to chat here with other users to see which software they're using to manage their inventory in conjunction with QuickBooks. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

I fully realize this is an opportunistic reply but I sincerely think it could be benefit QuickBooks Commerce customers and Intuit. We've been working with QuickBooks since 2016 and we were part of their developer success program (made for well designed apps). Erplain is a B2B Sales and Inventory software made for small business (1-20 employees), and we are priced accordingly (starting at $89 with our B2B Store). We are fully integrated with QuickBooks Online, so you can remain in the QuickBooks ecosystem. We do offer a B2B ecommerce portal called the B2B Store. Please check us out in the QuickBooks app store and let us know if you have any questions.

Unfortunately none.  I think we can use this thread to share any alternative option anyone has looked into for Commerce's replacement.
