When using Quickbooks Desktop we added job numbers to the beginning of the display name for each customer. The online version doesn't allow us to add anything but the name we enter to the display name. We need to be able to look up our customer by job number and they need to show by job number (so they are in numerical order on the job list. How can this be done.

Adding job numbers to the beginning of your customers' display name is currently unavailable in QBO. However, you can use the Title field before the First name in the customer's information to enter their job numbers as a workaround.

You can run and customize reports in QuickBooks Online to generate the necessary information. The Customer Contact List is the best report to generate. Then, filter it by date the customers were added.
