Deposit screen won't let me enter an amount

Hello,

I was trying to record a deposit today and noticed something strange. I filled in all the fields as usual but when I got to the "Amount" field, I wasn't able to type anything in. My cursor wouldn't even go into the box. I closed the screen and looked in our bank registry and there was a deposit recorded with no amount (the correct accounts were recorded). I was able to click "Edit Deposit" and then typed the amount of the deposit directly into the register. It then went to the "Make Deposit" screen and asked me if I wanted to save the changes and I clicked yes. The deposit seems to be recorded as it should be.

I guess my question is this: why can't I type numbers into the "Amount" field anymore? I am able to type numbers in all other fields as usual. I tried recorded a sample deposit and it was the same. I can't put anything into the "Amount" field.

I should mention that I rarely use the "Make Deposit" section as we normally use "Receive Payments" on customer invoices. Maybe something changed since I last used it 2 months ago?

I am using QB Premier Plus Contractor Edition 2022 and it is updated to whatever the latest version is.

I can assist you in getting back to tracking your deposits in QuickBooks Desktop, csoffice.

If your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software is updated but still can't enter an amount when making deposits, you can utilize the QuickBooks Diagnostic Tool from the Tool Hub. There are times when QBDT encountered issues due to a corrupt Windows file. To address this, follow the steps to use the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the latest version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  3. Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install and accept the terms and conditions.
  5. After installation, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to launch the tool hub.
  6. Run QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to repair any necessary Windows files for QuickBooks to run.
  7. Select OK when the Diagnostic Tool completes.
  8. Start the program and open your data file.

Additionally, if you experience issues with your company file in the future, refer to this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Stop by again if you need further assistance managing deposits in QuickBooks. I'm here to help you around the clock. Keep safe.

I will run the diagnostic tool tonight and see if that helps.

I ran the diagnostic tool as well as the QB File Doctor and it did not fix the issue.

One more thing I should mention - we run QB from a server. I checked the computer on the server and it does not have this problem. I also checked QB on my colleagues computer and the problem does not happen on it either. It only happens on my computer. And it wasn't happening until very recently. The last time I used the "Make A Deposit" field was about 2 months ago and it was normal.

Thanks for sharing updates after using the Diagnostic Tool and File Doctor, csoffice. I have additional details that can resolve the issue when recording a bank deposit.

Based on the additional details you've shared, they're an indication that there's an issue with the user profile or access.

To delve deeper into this matter, you can ask the file Admin to create a new user profile for the company file. Then, use it to log in and create a bank deposit to further check if that's the case.

Here's how to create another user profile:

  1. Go to the Company menu, select Users, and then click Set up Users and Roles.
  2. In the Users and Roles window, select New. Then, add a name and type in a password.
  3. Enter all other required details.
  4. Select Close in the Users and Roles window.

Once the new profile is created, record a bank deposit using that profile.

Just in case the issue persists, the next best step is to contact our phone or chat support teams. They can take a closer look at this to make sure we get this sorted out.

Here's how to reach out to them:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Contact Us.
  2. Click Contact Us at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  3. Type in a short description of your concern and click Continue.
  4. Log in to your account and select between Chat and Callback.
