Buy nowGood morning. I want to know if I can go back to the beginning of the year and into transactions that are already reconciled and go in to fix the description, connect them to a customer and class. I want to know if I can do that without messing up the reconciliation. I do not want to make a mess of what is reconciled I just want to connect that transaction to a customer and class so I can print out reports and have them all organized since the beginning of the year.
Thank you. -CCL
Good morning, NR2024.
Yes, you can update some details of already reconciled transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) without affecting the reconciliation. You can safely add or edit descriptions, link transactions to customers, and assign classes without any problems.
However, you'll need to avoid changing key fields like the total amount, the bank account, or the transaction date, as changing these might mess up the reconciliation.
Then, here's how to do this:
After updating the transactions, check that the reconciliation remains unaffected: Go to Accounting > Reconcile, select the account, and confirm that the starting balance still matches.
Feel free to comment below if you have follow-up questions about managing your reconciled transactions in QBO.
