Had Big Sur removed from my iMac, now Qkbks needs passwords to open companies, I never used passwords before how can I access my files

Hi @Perth,

Happy Wednesday! I can help you get logged in to your QuickBooks, no problem. If you are using QuickBooks Online, let’s start at the QBO login page, then:

  1. Click I forgot my user ID or Password at the bottom.
  2. Enter your phone number and Continue.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code, then choose Continue.
  4. Complete the following prompts to retrieve your password or reset it.

If you are using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, here are the steps: Reset your password for QBDT for Mac

You’re back up and running. Let me know if you need help with anything else, or have any other questions. I’m always happy to assist.

Thanks for getting back to us, @Perth.

I appreciate you for following the steps shared by my colleague and their results. It looks like you're using QuickBooks Desktop MAC, and the product tagging you've used here in the Community is QBO.

Let me share some ideas to get this resolved so you can open your company files. To get started, let's update your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac to the latest release. Keeping QuickBooks up-to-date helps you fix some common errors while working with your file. To do a manual update, follow these steps:

  • Uninstall QuickBooks for Mac.
    1. Close QuickBooks.
    2. From the Finder menu, select Go Applications.
    3. Drag the QuickBooks icon to the Trash.
  • Reinstall the latest version.
    1. Go to QuickBooks Downloads & Updates.
    2. Make sure to select the correct country, product, and version.
    3. Select Search.
    4. Select Download to download the installer file.
    5. Double-click the .dmg file.
    6. Drag the QuickBooks icon to the Applications folder to install. To verify the update and check the release number, open QuickBooks, and press Cmd+1.

However, if the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They can further investigate this matter and provide other troubleshooting steps. To contact them, you can visit this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/prechats/offerings/QB-Mac/23435/view.

Also, you can refer to this article to see different information about the new and improved features designed to benefit your business in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021: What's new in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021.

Please don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section below if you have other questions with QuickBooks. I'd be glad to help you further. Take care.
