How can I block Intuit ads from continuously popping up while using quickbooks?

Since QuickBooks is a product we pay for, there should be a way to stop the continuous ads trying to upsell on Payroll etc. from posing up on every other page.

How can I block Intuit ads from continuously popping up while using quickbooks?

Hello, @ARK23.

I'm here to share details about the displayed ads in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

These ads are designed to guide and suggest how you can optimize your QBO experience. Currently, we don't have the option to completely stop the ads from popping up. You can continue using the X or No, thanks to buttons. This way, the pop-ups will keep from showing up again.

If you're using Google Chrome, you can follow this article to guide you on how to block the ads: Block certain ads.

Additionally, you can enable the pop-up blocker in your browser. I'll show you how.

  1. Click the lock icon to the left of the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings (Google Chrome) or Permission for this site (Mozilla browser).
  3. Hover to the Pop-ups and redirects section, and choose Block from the drop-down menu.

Here's how for the Safari browser:

  1. Open your Safari browser.
  2. Click Safari, then Preferences.
  3. Select Websites at the top
  4. Click Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar
  5. Then select Block in the pop-up menu for the website.

For more tips and other resources you can use in the future, I recommend visiting our website: Self-help articles.

I'm only a few clicks away if you have additional questions about this or anything else QuickBooks. I'll be here to assist. Take care always.

Please submit a formal request to have the ability to turn off all Intuit ads or at least provide a Do Not Show this Ad Again option after showing an ad once.   It is very annoying and reduces productivity.

Also, blocking pop-up completely will limit other functionality, so is not a good solution

Your satisfaction means everything to us, @ARK23

I myself don't want to see pop-ups when using an online service. Helpful tip advertisement window is designed to guide and suggest how you optimize QuickBooks Online.

So I'm going to direct you to a page where you can post feedback and suggestions. This way, our engineers can find a schematic that supports this functionality again,

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Our product development team will review your suggestions and might include it on the next product updates.

Check out the following sections of this resource for more information and help when using QuickBooks in the future: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.

If there is anything further we can do for you, don't hesitate to post once again. We'll be right here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

It appears nothing is being done to address this. Our feedback seems to be going right to the trash. If quickbooks doesn't stop the internal ads, I'm done with quickbooks.

YOU MUST submit a formal request to at least move the pop up ads to a place where they do not obscure important buttons, like Save | New or Save |  Close

It is a waste of time to keep clicking twice constantly to remove these intrusive pop ups from the screen.  We are all not novice or stupid users who constantly require babysitting help.

It is both sad and appalling that users have to deal with this multiple times everyday in a service that they pay for.  I am ready to move on, does anyone have recommendations for alternative software?

I agree - it seems Intuit marketing has a little too much influence over product functionality. You already have our email addresses and you can include a nice neat button to see "productivity suggestions" - slapping us in the face while we are working is an insult and counter to your advertised mission.  I'm within my refund period and if there is no way to stop this I will just return to my QB Desktop 2017 and start searching for another solution.

This is very poor and unprofessional of QuickBooks, both that they are continually in your face about upgrading, then not listening to feedback. Maybe it would help them listen if we all post on Google reviews and Trustpilot. If QuickBooks don't stop this then it may be time to move to Xero.

This suggestion does absolutely nothing to stop WHOLE PAGE ADS from blocking my view every couple minutes. Why continue to insult us with these unhelpful responses? If I had a dollar for every response that was useless I could retire. If our satisfaction was truly important to you, there would be a way to turn these off. I have been through all the setting and turned everything off that I can and the ads are worse somehow. The community has been screaming about this for at least a decade. Most bookkeepers work at a break-neck pace and this is so, so frustrating.

This is purely designed to push more paid products to customers because the marketing team is greedy even though these are already paying customers. Since you all refuse to fix the problem you know you have created, I threw together this quick little hack so that users can somewhat work around this ridiculous blow to usability and quality of a product. I too will be dropping this product after many years because of this blatant disrespect and tacky approach to exploitation.

1. Create a browser bookmark (ideally on your bookmark bar so it can be easily clicked).

2. Name it something easy to remember like "Quickbooks is Greedy" or "Ad Killer".

3. Set the URL field to exactly this value without the quotation marks (replace the : with an actual colon, Quickbooks is blocking this):

"javascript : setInterval(()=>{Array.prototype.forEach.call(document.getElementsByClassName('marketing-ipd-tsa-widgets'), (i) => {if(i.tagName.toLowerCase()=='div') i.remove();});}, 2);"

Then when you load Quickbooks, click this button ONCE and only once or after any complete page reload (like manually refreshing your browser). This will run a script every (2) seconds which will target these ridiculous distractions and remove them from the browser's DOM.

Desktop is no better.  they have a message about a "SALE" to move to QBO.  There is a checkbox that says "Do not show this message again" but it does not matter if it is checked or not when you dismiss it, they will show the box every time you start QB desktop.  Since they cannot get a simple checkbox to work, you begin to wonder how many other things in the program are failing and you do not know it.

Wanna hear something funny?  I went to support and asked for a credit and they said no and gave me the link to this thread.  Apparently, this is a joke for QB and they wanted to let me know the most passive aggressively way.

Brilliant.... another dev here.

I was just googling around trying to find a "turn this sh!t off", ran into this joke of a support thread, and I started having the same idea you did (JS-based removal).  I don't have time right now, but I've built a couple browser extensions in the past.  If you're a dev, maybe we could collab on throwing something together that's like:

  • figure out if there are other ad types (element ids) or "greedy" features that people hate about the current UX.
  • create a browser extension for Google/FF/Edge with a checkbox list of all things to optionally allow or block/remove, submit it to the extension marketplaces
  • throw the source up on github so others can collab on it - perhaps besides DOM removals, there might also be opportunity for DOM/feature ads to create UX improvements.
