How can I get rid of the special offers block on the navigation bar?

I use QB Prem 2020 with latest updates.

I have that special offers block at the bottom of the navigation bar and I don't wan't it there. I would like to use the navigation bar for my favorites and windows.

The same special offers are also available on the top under the Special Offers pull-down. I don't mind having it there.

It looks like this is something permanent or is there an option to remove it?

I myself don't want to see pop-ups ads when I'm using an QuickBooks service I'm paying, gerdgoebel.

To turn off the promotion displayed in QuickBooks, let’s configure the General set up in your company file. With just a few clicks, you can simply perform the process.

Here's how to turn off product and service pop-up:

  1. Open your QuickBooks and go to Edit menu.
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Then choose General on the left-side panel.
  4. Click the My Preferences.
  5. Check the box next to Turn off popup messages for products and services
  6. Once done, click OK.

Then restart QuickBooks for this change to take effect.

This should help get you back on track. If you need other helpful articles in the future, you can always visit our site: Help articles for QuickBooks Desktop

I tried to tell you that I did that. The popup message preference is unchecked.

I closed QB, started it again, even rebooted the PC, but that block is still showing at the bottom of my navigation bar.

I can see how useful for you to remove the special offers block in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @gerdgoebel.

Currently, getting rid of the special offers block or the advertisement section in the navigation bar isn't an option. It's there to guide and suggest how you can optimize your experience with the program.

In the meantime, I'd recommend visiting our blog to keep you updated with the latest news and feature upgrades in QBDT: The QuickBooks Blog. It also includes the link to the Quick Start Guide and QuickBooks Resource Center pages to further guide you in managing the growth of your business.

Please know that you're always welcome to comment below if you have other concerns or follow-up inquiries about QuickBooks features. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

How can I get rid of the special offers block on the navigation bar?

Like I already mentioned, the special offers are also on the top bar under Special Offers, thus, we have it twice.

I rather have the entire navigation bar for all my favorites and windows. It would avoid having to scroll the navigation bar to display the rest of my favorites.

I get it that you want to advertise additional features, but you should let the user decide where and how I want to see them. If I see them once its fine, but I don't need to see it all the time. I already know by now what they are.

And why don't you make that as a preference? Then I can display or not display it, but it would be my choice.

How can I get rid of the special offers block on the navigation bar?

It is sure looking like Intuit has hired 3rd graders to program Desktop now ... there are so many issues

that are simply the marketing and program developers' fault ... I would certainly not hire any of these ...

Are you intentionally breaking Desktop to push more people to even a worse QBO ???

The Discovery Hub needs to go !!! and ALL your annoying pop up promo messages ...

How can I get rid of the special offers block on the navigation bar?

Hello there, Cosmic. I acknowledge that pop-ups can be a significant roadblock to staying focused on your finances when using QuickBooks Desktop. QuickBooks has this feature turned on by default, which serves as a helpful reminder on the system.

It's important to note that once you check the Turn off pop-up messages for products and services option, you'll need to restart your QuickBooks Desktop for the changes to take effect.

Since the discovery hub pop-up keeps appearing despite turning off the pop-up recommendation, don't worry. We can take some troubleshooting steps and utilize the QuickBooks Tool Hub to help fix program issues and resolve common errors. Before we proceed, ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release and create a backup file of your company to prevent any accidental loss due to unforeseen issues or circumstances.

To begin troubleshooting, follow these steps:

  1. Close your QuickBooks Desktop, then download the recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub
  2. Please save the file in an easily accessible location. To check your Tool Hub version, click the Home tab and find the version number at the bottom.
  3. After downloading the file, open it (QuickBooksToolHub.exe) and follow the on-screen instructions to install it, agreeing to the terms and conditions.
  4. Once complete, you can access the tool hub by double-clicking the icon on your Windows desktop

You can check out this article for more information: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub

If the same thing happens after taking the troubleshooting steps, I recommend contacting our technical support team. They can arrange a screen-sharing session to investigate why you're encountering this.

Furthermore, you have the flexibility to customize your toolbar, adjust the organization of your tabs to fit your workflow and modify the color display of your QuickBooks Desktop to enrich your visual experience.

All that information and troubleshooting steps will ensure the recommendation won't appear when using the program. Doing so will allow you to focus on your tasks and increase productivity by managing your finances more efficiently.

Hi ShyMae,

you list of steps seems to have the main step missing.

After starting the QuickbooksToolHub, what selection should we use to stop the popups?

I is not obvious from when the tool is started.

I acknowledge the steps you've taken to troubleshoot the issue according to my colleague's suggestions, gerdgoebel. Allow me to join this conversation and provide additional support to help you eliminate the presence of pop-up ads.

After disabling the Turn off popup messages for products and services, no advertisements should appear on your display. If you're still receiving the same issue, we can proceed with the selection to use the tools in the hub. Specific to your concern, we can follow these steps:

  • Company File Issues: Run the Quick Fix my file or the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix common data issues. If you need more help, select File Dr Help.
