How can stop the previous line from floating over the lines when I scroll down to next account in budgeting?

When I enter a line item in budgeting that line item will "float" on my screen until I click on another account. It makes it challenging to see the accounts as I scroll through with that overlay. How can I stop this?

How can stop the previous line from floating over the lines when I scroll down to next account in budgeting?

Hello, ccurie.

I hear you and realize the importance of being able to work with your QuickBooks with no hassle. And we will work for hand in hand with this. In QuickBooks, when you enter a line item in your budget, the account will overlay as this is working as design, so you can finish working on that line. You can click the X or finish the budget for that account before moving to another line.

Hi, Strickland12.

I understand how you feel when things aren't working the way you wanted them to be working.

Please note that our goal is to help save time and keep things simple when doing a task in your account. But, as mentioned by my peer above, it is working as designed. And the only way to move to another line is to click the option.

Need help exporting your budget report? You can follow these instructions below:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Enter Budget in the search box then select.
  3. Click on the Customize button and then filter the date period.
  4. Select the necessary details that need to display on the report.
  5. Press Run report.
  6. Besides the small setting, click the Export icon.

Here's an article for more information our reports feature in QBO: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be right here if you need anything else.

How can stop the previous line from floating over the lines when I scroll down to next account in budgeting?

When you click on the X it deletes the entire line. It doesn't close the line. I have yet to find a way to "close" the line to move on the next. It continues to float as you scroll to the next account.

Clicking on the X deletes the entire line. I want the data I entered. I just want to move to the next line without it floating through all the other accounts.

Thanks for getting back to us in the Community, @ccurie. I'll share some insight to help you on your query with QuickBooks Online.

As mentioned by my colleagues above, the system only allows you to click the X option so you can move to the next line in entering your budgets.

Also, I recognize how this specific feature is beneficial to your business. I do think this would be a great time to send this suggestion to our Product Development Team. We value your suggestions. This way, our developers can determine what features to add in QBO's future enhancements. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter a brief description of your product suggestion and then click Next.
  4. Type your email address.
  5. Once done, click Send Message.

I'm having the same issue. The "floating" line is horrible. It serves no purpose.
