Members supporting members is great and naturally I applaud those users who are able to assist each other in this manner.
That said, I must echo the sentiments of several other posters who rightly note it would be nice if Intuit would support their own members - and not for nothing, but this workaround, apart from the idea that it shouldn't be necessary in the first place, appears to only be valid for people who use Chrome.
Replying to help spread this solution. Intuit has never recognized/respected their responsibilities to their customers and nothing has a chance of surviving the test of time. When will Intuit be only.... [ YOU'VE BEEN PRE APPROVED FOR A $70,000 LOAN] ..... a page on Wikipedia?
Thank you so much! _/|\_
So is Intuit determined to chase its customers away? Because that's what it's doing. I'm a paying customer. I pay over $100 a month to Intuit to use your software. I should have an ad-free experience. I've used free mobile games with less intrusive ads. And don't give me that nonsense about it being to "improve my experience." Because it's doing the opposite.
If you want to tell me about a new feature, put a notification in the message center. That's what the message center is FOR. Don't give me a popup. Certainly don't give me the same popup that I've closed 50 times before. I don't want a loan. I don't want Quickbooks Checking (yeah, I tried Quickbooks Checking and you guys screwed that up so bad it almost cost me a client). I don't *want* these things. If I click "hide" on a box? That box should NEVER COME BACK. I shouldn't have to click "hide" again tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day. And the next day. I should be able to check a box that says "I don't want to see offers from Intuit" and NEVER GET ANY MORE OFFERS FROM INTUIT.
I've been a Quickbooks user for years. I'm about not to be a Quickbooks user any longer.
Yes, I have already bought the product. I don't want constant advertisements built it. We all get enough of that unwanted ads daily. Please simply just stop them or give the option to.
Everyone hates this and I'm considering another service specifically because paid services should not contain ANY popup ads. Productivity and time management are important to people and they don't want to constantly manage popup ads and clicking extra steps simply to login and send invoice etc.
Additionally there are popup ads on simply changing pages from banking to invoices as if home page ads were not enough to manage. WOW. I mean it's almost unbelievable they need to put ads into the paid users face all the time.
Please forward this info ASAP.
YES and another thing is that they are advertising for services I already have and use too. Making it even worse then you can imagine for a paid service.
The ads are annoying and just make me want to cancel my account. Pass that on to your management.
So the usual response from QB is "the developers are looking into it", whether it's the no SKU on a printed P.O., or the need to constantly "upsell" you on stuff that, if you wanted it you would look for it. In my research, I have found other products to be a better solution, without the big name recognition. In my opinion, QB is implementing solutions that provide the users what others already offer like they are still the only game in town.
As an Accountant user for multiple companies, the pop-up ads are absolutely useless. Even if I wanted a $30,000 loan - I'm the accountant...I can't make that decision. The standard response of "The pop-up notifications are designed to suggest and guide you on how to improve your QuickBooks experience. I understand that the ads may affect your navigation, however, the option to disable them permanently is currently unavailable. The good news is, you can click on the X or No, thanks buttons to remove the pop-ups from your QuickBooks homepage." is complete garbage. If that statement were true, I wouldn't see the same pop-ups over and over and over and over...
If I elect to use the "free" version of some software, I would expect...in fact I'm notified...that there will be in-app advertising. However, when I'm paying, and my clients are paying an ever-increasing monthly fee for the privilege of using the software, I would expect a much more professional, ad-free experience. At the very least, Accountant users should have an option to block ALL ads.
It's funny because the developers are the ones that included the ads and I am sure they know how to remove them.
I have no solution. I'm only here to say, "Me too!" and that I've been using Quickbooks for 10 years, but with increasing frustration. Too often, I have to find a workaround to something "new" that tremendously slows down the time I spend on my books. Clicking to close the same [bleeping] ad over and over again has no workaround. I have other important things to do that are getting put on the backburner. I've waited for a solution to this problem long enough. It's about time I find an alternative, I guess. :(
Sincerely,
Ms. Giving Up on Quickbooks
You must remove the annoying pop-ups AT ONCE. We've had enough and you at Intuit do not have the right to continue to harvest our attention without our consent - it is the simple and outright theft of our time. There are alternatives to Qbooks and the train is filling up with deserters - it is simply a matter of time UNLESS you remove all of the annoying pop-ups. And your statement about them being "designed to suggest and guide you on how to improve your QuickBooks experience," is complete ridiculous non-sense that is quite frankly insulting to your user community. Really? Do you really think we would believe such non-sense? The overwhelming reaction to this so-called "guidance" is abject annoyance that runs deeper with each pop-up. And "clicking the 'x'" is even more insulting. Please, give us a break. This along with the annual subscription "scheme" is a bridge too far and certainly spells doom for the whole QuickBooks enterprise. It is very disappointing.
I love how this thread is marked "Solved"
What a joke.
I've called 5 accountants in my area and sadly none of them support other software like Sage or Freshbooks.
I'm going to demo some others to see what the experience is like. Besides ad popups, I have been very frustrated with the limited templates and lack of adding markup to parts on estimates and invoices. I now have to manually do the markup on each part before I add it to the system. Very tedious software now.
I would like the ads to stop popping up on quickbooks online. I paid for the software, not a bunch of ads.
Hi there,
I am aware of how crucial it is to flawlessly manage your business on QuickBooks Online (QBO). Please know this isn't the kind of impression I want you to have with QBO.
The pop-ups are intended to assist our users in effortlessly exploring QBO. Since this interferes with your ability to conduct business, I suggest selecting the X or No, thanks buttons to get rid of the pop-up windows.
Another option is to turn on your browser's pop-up blocker. This stops pop-up windows from appearing. I’ll show you how:
For Safari browser:
If you‘re talking about marketing advertisements that pop-up and other forms of ads on Chrome, check out this page for a more detailed instruction: Ad Center Help. This includes related resources to block certain ads.
Additionally, you’ll want to look for additional guidance online on how to block pop-ups depending on the browser you're using.
On the other hand, you can send feedback to our Product Developer team. This way, they can review and consider adding a feature where you can disable the ads in the program.
Furthermore, I'm attaching this article that can efficiently guide you in supervising your account: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.

I realize that you have not read all of what was written. So I will try to clarify what I said. The pop up ads I am referring to are not appearing on my web browser as I surf the net. The ads are appearing within Quickbooks itself and are for other Quickbooks products like payroll and inventory control. It happened for about a week. Here is an example of what kept happening: I would start to enter an invoice, there is an ad about using QB payroll. I close out the ad. I switch to excel to get the part number, when I switch back to QB the ad for QB payroll is back. I close it out again and complete the invoice. I go back to excel to get the info for the next invoice. When I come back, the ad for QB payroll is back. This kept happening. I customer service about how to turn this off. I was told there is no way to turn it off. I asked how to get the QB ads to stop popping up in QB each time I switch to excel. I was told I should just stay in QB or ad the feature. I came to the QB community looking for a solution. I found that a number of people were having the same problem. A QB tech tried to explain what you did about the problem being our web browsers. That might be turn if I were looking up something about shipping containers on Google. However, these were ads for QB features while I was in QB. After a week, the problem stopped. I guess enough people complained. So you explaining the web browser to us like we are stupid was uncalled for. Another thing I find interesting is the original post is over 18 months.
At this stage of the game, this response comes across as trolling the community. Stop, take a second to read the concerns of everyone, and post a response that is something more then just a slap in the face to all of us here.
Hi Jamaica,
I think all of us know how to block popups in our browser.
This isn't the issue. The issue is that Quickbooks ITSELF is spamming us with ads. I get ads for Quickbooks Payroll. I get ads for Quickbooks Loans. I get ads for Quickbooks Checking.
Your solution is "Select the X or No Thanks buttons". Well, that'd be great, except that once I select those buttons, it only solves the problem momentarily. Those ads are right back in my face no matter how many times I tell them to go away.
I pay Intuit over $100 a month (not including the credit card and ACH deposit fees). I should NOT be getting ads in my software. If you want to send me ads to tell me about the fancy new products that Intuit is offering, send me an email. Do NOT put it in the product that I pay for. I'm trying to work. Your popups and ads interfere with my work. I literally had to EDIT MY HOSTS FILE to get this nonsense to stop, and still only managed to block about 3/4 of it.
This needs to stop now, and your condescending answer is completely inappropriate.
It's also INCREDIBLY inappropriate of you to mark this problem as "solved."
Because it isn't.
I’ve submitted a feedback request to the developers: https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/forums/930640-quickbooks-apptransactions/suggestions/45065485-add-se...
no action has been taken on it.
Hi Andy,
Thank you for sending your feedback. While feedback is important, it is subject to review and approval. Apart from that, we prioritize multiple interactions. Therefore, it may take some time for the feedback to be taken care of, but at least you have submitted one, and others can view and vote on it as well.
Don't hesitate to go back to this thread if you need anything else. Have a good one.
I agree with all the comments expressing frustration at being marketed to by the very software that we are paying for. Whoever came up with this idea should be fired - especially if it's a C-level person. You've designed a great software and you are ruining it. REMOVE THE ADS! And tell your support staff to stop telling us to use our browser pop-up blocker; that is a ridiculous and insulting response when the ads are being generated within the software itself.
Try Patriot Accounting. Far cheaper and allow as many company files as you need if you join the partner program. This program is free to join and includes unlimited users. It allows for bill pay, connecting directly to your bank for recs and to receive payments. So far the system seems very user friendly and the customer service is outstanding.
Their payroll is full functioning and easier. Plus it's way cheaper than QB. They have a link for employees to put in their own information which feeds the software directly. This includes their w-2s, paystubs and timecard inputs.
I'm coming from the QB desktop version and so far I'm moving what I'm seeing and you can't beat the cost for what they offer.
