How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

This is clearly a business decision by Intuit to increase revenue channels at the expense of user experience. I'm sure they've done the math on the net gain from selling banking products vs. attrition from pissed off customers.

Which is to say, from their view, presenting ads and solicitations which can't be hidden, silenced, or dismissed is a FEATURE not a bug. Complaining to developers or on a support thread like this is not going to help, as these in-app purchases are obviously approved and encouraged by the product managers.

Best action I can think of is for a critical mass of annoyed users to lodge formal complaints and/or take to the socials to excoriate this strategy.

Simply Clicking the X EVERY time is not a solution.  And QBO does NOT seem to remember the ads that I X out of, I see them over and over again, every day.

They permanently moved the api. If you `curl personalization.api.intuit.com` you will see the 301 HTML code.

I, too, absolutely HATE their pop-ups. And, no, the people writing that "the ads guide your experience" are grossly lying. The popups are ridiculous and rarely mean anything to me. And they are nothing but repetitive.

Local backups started failing 2 years ago - oh, but I'm on a list to be notified when the issue resolves. It won't. Intuit is falsely advertising when they state that local backups are available in Advanced.

They're also falsely advertising when they offer free basic time tracking. I've used the function 4 or 5 times, but today I see they have blocked me with a screen that offers checking out their prices for the paid time  tracking options.

I am sick and tired of this company - they are absolute sleaze.

It's January 2023, and this is still annoying. I trust the Intuit software engineers are still hard at work trying to add a user option to disable the ads. Memo to Intuit: your ads are NOT enhancing my UX.

The fact we pay for this software AND are unable to stop the advertisements in the Desktop version (or online too)- is egregious abuse of a relationship.  My account renews in June and I am looking to start the New Year with a new accounting software- thanks Quickbooks!

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

Sadly, I find that the Quickbooks Online is less user friendly and business friendly than my Quickbooks 2014 Desktop. These ads are just another sore spot. If I need a loan, or a line of credit, I need to file for bankruptcy.

My bank, that is in the business of making loans, sends me emails and US mail offers. But when I am on their website looking at my accounts, I never get a popup to take out a loan. Why should my accounting software offer me a loan?

I do everything manually. It takes me twice as long in the online version than in my old Desktop version to reconcile a bank statement, etc.

Maybe I will figure it out eventually, but my ability to view my business and understand where I am is much poorer with the online version.

I will never understand why a company thinks annoying their customers is good business. Is this something a younger generation enjoys and is quick to accept?

I totally agree! I had a pop-up for a Quickbooks loan! WTH? Are they looking at my attached bank account? This is BS! I pay a lot for this program. So basically, I am paying for them to spy on my business. No thanks! I am switching as well!

So glad I could take the Intuit handcuffs off! Thank YOU!

What did you figure out? I had a survey pop up yesterday during payroll. Had to give it a 1, do not recommend due to surveys that pop up while doing payroll.

What is a good company to switch to that I can do my payroll in the same way? I like the upcoming tax payment screen, and thats about it.

It seems like the more we complain, the more popups and what I would call annoying banners that surface on Quickbooks.

Rather than listening to our complaints, Intuit simply doubles down on harassing us after we already pay for their software? It may be too difficult for me to swap to a new system in the short run, but I can assure Intuit that as I mentor new people, Quickbooks is not a software package I recommend.

OK. So today, along with the regular popups that irritate me, I get a popup survey asking me if I would recommend QB. So, after complaining about popups, they popup a survey to ask me what I think about their software?

They are rather daft. Earlier today they popped a FULL SCREEN ad about their bank account signup. And a minute ago this ridiculous crap - my bank accounts are already in existence and linked to QBO, I've categorized a bunch of expenses and other transactions. Not only are the devs daft, they can't be bothered to look at what options I've exercised, what grimy popups I've already showed zero interest in nor their reputations as being daft AF.

To Willis Solutions, I just hit their site and it looks pretty good! I will see a demo of this.

Others I've looked at and refused, are:

Zoho - won't talk to my banks

Freshbooks - reports horrified my accountant as being inaccurate

Xero - could not modify their COA haha, like, yeah, right

Quicken - both the Mac and Windows versions can record transactions but their current balances are way off

Sage - I used their software when it was called Business Works by Manzanita Software in the early 1990s - expensive and you pay by the module; interface still looks DOS-ish.

Wave GREAT and FREE but could not manage my inventory as I need

Oh, well, Patriot Accounting is out for me as they use Plaid for bank transactions. The same as Zoho, which could not connect to my banks.

It is absolutely unbelievable that Intuit FORCES users to endure advertisements while using products that WE PAY FOR!!!  What is wrong with this company?  I have been a software engineer for over 30 years and have never seen anything so outrageous.  And it keeps getting worse - there's now a banner permanently across the top promoting things, that you CANNOT get rid of (there's no 'x').  After 4 years I've reached my limit.  I would rather use a spreadsheet than put up with this, and I will get rid of this program and never use another product from this horrible company as soon as I can get all of my data exported (which I'm sure they will make impossible).  Unbelievable.

I'm evaluating GNUcash - open source; so far, it's promising.  The biggest challenge is getting my information out of QuickBooks - it's tedious and time-consuming but each ad in my paid version of QuickBooks desktop bolsters my resolve finally to be free from Intuit's despicable theft of my time and attention.  I expect that once a viable alternative to "SnailBooks" is found and socialized, there will be a mass exodus from this Intuit prison cell.

*** Again - Intuit, you MUST CEASE ALL ADVERTISING inside paid software and subscriptions.  ***

How do I disable all the annoying pop ups (ads) within Quickbooks Online?

I left QB in in 2008. I found the ads to be repulsive back then. I've been spreadsheeting it since. Just decided to try QBO a few days ago. Unbelievable that the ads have gotten worse. C'mon people, they are telling us what to do. Just leave them, give money to an alternative and suffer until the alternative has enough dev money to be the solution we all want. Intuit will NEVER fix this issue. They aren't even reading our posts but instead marking the issue as resolved and spamming with the same canned and ineffective post.

Reject this kind of bad business practice!

Are you aware that on every receive payment the pop-up shows up for Priority Circle advertisement? It does not show up on the home page but on Receive Payment page effectively covering up the Amount Received, Payment Amount, Amount to Apply, Amount to Credit fields? Once you clicked it to close, it goes away only to show up on each subsequent transaction. Clicking on the ad also does not make it go away. It is at this point a liability as clearing it every time significantly lowers productivity, but not clearing it renders your shortcut useless. So the process has gone from optimized to onerous. AND NO, POPUP BLOCKER DOES NOT STOP THAT ADD.
We too have gotten management approval to switch to a more user friendly software and are currently evaluating options to get off your platform ASAP.

Thanks for the response, however, the pop-ups are annoying for me, primarily because apart from the message being repetitive, the pop-up covers functionality.  For example, if I'm creating a customer, the pop-up covers the Save button.   When I have a new staff member, the first thing I have to show them is that they will often have to close the pop-up to reveal the next steps.

Also, if pop-ups are to persist, at least let the user decide if they want to see that particular message again.  Having the close the same pop-up numerous times throughout the day is just frustrating, and inefficient.

I agree with all the comments expressing frustration at being marketed to by the very software that we are paying for. Whoever came up with this idea should be fired - especially if it's a C-level person. You've designed a great software and you are ruining it. REMOVE THE ADS! And tell your support staff to stop telling us to use our browser website  for pop-up blocker; that is a ridiculous and insulting response when the ads are being generated within the software itself.

The problem with the support staff for Quickbooks is that I think it is a form of artificial intelligence and can only respond with the canned answer programmed in to the help desk.

I have spoken to numerous people who have moved away from Quickbooks, I am hoping one of them has a viable solution, just trying to determine how to migrate from one software to the other.

Thank you, will look into Wave, as we don't carry an inventory, we are a service company.
We are also talking to a Telecommunications Billing Platform that completely takes over our billing and that might also be the way to go for us, but will definitely check out Wave. Thank you.
I cannot imagine QB is having a meaningful conversion doing what they are doing.
