Hello. I'm new to quickbooks and I somehow accidentally switched my invoice settings to the old layout. How can I switch back to the new layout the came standard with my account?
Thanks!!
Afaik it's irreversible. You can only open a new blank QBO account and migrate your data from old account or purchase a third party migration service.

Thanks for visiting us here, @ceversole. I can share the steps to switch your invoice layout back to the new experience in QuickBooks Online.
If you prefer the new experience, you can switch back any time. You can follow the steps below:
You can switch to either the old or the new experience at any time. QuickBooks saves all the info from your previous estimates and invoices to ensure that you don't lose your work. Also, when you change between the new and old experiences, the design shown to your customers will change.
Additionally, you can check out this guide where you can customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
Don't hesitate to reply anytime if you still have questions or concerns about managing invoices. I am always here to help. Take care, and have a great day ahead.
Hi @ceversole,
Thanks for getting back to us. Looking at the attached photo, it looks like you're still on the old invoice layout. The option to switch to the new estimate and invoice layout has been rolled out to some customers only for feedback purposes.
If you don't see the new feature from your account, your company file isn't included in the first batches rolled out. You'll want to wait on the next set of batches for now. You'll get a notification or an email about it when it's available.
Refer to this article for more information about the feature: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
I'm also adding this link in case you need help managing customer-relates tasks. It has our general customer topics with articles, some videos, and topics about your company's income and customers: Sales and customers.
Reach back to us anytime if you have follow-up questions or concerns about invoice templates. We're here for you. Take care.
Thanks for that information. That seems odd since when I signed up for quickbooks a few days ago I began with the new invoice template and then switched to the old just to see what it was like then I wasn't able switch back to the new. I can just use the old template I guess.
The same thing happened to me which is extremely frustrating because I was using the "take deposit" feature that is missing on the old layout.
I spoke with support chat and they are supposedly going to restore my access to it (we'll see if that actually happens) but that it's going to take 24 hours.
So if you're okay not sending out invoices on the new experience layout for 24 hours maybe support chat is worth a shot...
Quick update...
After spending many hours on support chat I finally decided to schedule a support call.
Tech was very knowledgeable and was able to find out that since I had been switched back to the old layout, I wouldn't be able to get back into the new layout.
Yay :/
Hopefully they finish the rollout soon.
Switch to Freshbooks, they have all the features QB took away
Switch to Freshboks, they have all the features QB took away
where do i find Try the new invoices
It doesn't exist, they took it away
I am trying to get to the new Invoice Layout. I start in Dashboard, click +New, click Invoice and the old invoice layout pops up. How do I get the new invoice experience?
Thanks for joining the thread, @JS2138. Now that I'm here, I'll share some details about how you can use the new invoice layout in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
Know that the feature is only available for new QBO accounts. With that said, you need a new company file to utilize the new invoice experience feature. If the company file you're using is old, you can only customize the template to see other details and sections in your invoice view.
If your company file is new, and you've accidentally ticked the Old layout button. You can still switch back to the New invoice experience. I'll input the steps below so you can proceed. To begin, here's how:
See this article for more information about the new invoice experience in QBO: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
In addition, here's an article to help you manage invoice payments in QBO: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

I opened my QuickBooks account this morning to invoice a customer and the whole format has changed.
is it possible to go back to the way my site worked? And if not where is the tutorial to learn the new ?
Thank you
I appreciate you for posting your concern here today, @Patw2. I'm here to provide some insights about the tag feature in the new invoice layout format of QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can refer to the steps provided by my peer, KurtKyle_M, above if you use the new invoice layout in your QBO. Just click the Try the new invoices.
At any point, you can choose to have the old or new experience. To prevent you from losing your work, QuickBooks keeps all the data from your past estimates and invoices.
For additional details on the new invoice experience in QBO, see this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Do you people even understand your own software? Once QB decides to migrate you over to the "old Invoices" you CANNOT go back. You people copy and paste the same nonsense and you cannot go back.
I was also affected by this a few months ago with no notice and after multiple calls and useless posts, I was told "sorry there is no way to go back, this was a beta feature and may or may not come back".
YOU CANNOT GO BACK! You people post the same copy and pasted response to this question, there is no way to go back!
Learn your own software! Your fix doesn't work!
Trying to reply to Kurt but I can't find his post. Anyway. Since I migrated from an existing desktop file are you saying that I do not have access to the new invoice layout?
So are you saying that since i migrated to QBO from a desktop file, that I do not have access to the new invoice layout?
Hello there, @Suzanne.
Kurt provided accurate information. The new invoice layout feature in QuickBooks Online is only available to users with recently created QBO accounts. Thus, you need a new company file to use the new invoice experience feature.
If you migrate an old company file from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, you cannot use the invoice experience feature. However, you can create and use a new file to utilize thefeature.
Find out how your books will move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online through this link: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

I was using the new invoice layout then for some reason I changed it to old layout but when I tried to switch it again to the new invoice layout it didn't let to do that. How can I switch to new invoice Layout?
Hello there, @lynda Boualili. Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the thread.
You can switch back anytime for the new invoice layout in QuickBooks Online if you prefer to use it over the old one. In your case, you may have encountered a problem with your browser caused by too much cache being saved on your browser and creating unusual system behaviour. To resolve the issue, I recommend opening your account in a private (incognito) window.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:
Once you've login via a private window, try to switch back the invoice layout. If it looks good, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. You can also use another supported browser as an alternative.
To learn more about how the new experience can help you land jobs and get paid faster in QBO, see this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if you have other feature concerns or questions about managing invoices in QBO. I'll gladly help. Feel free to leave a comment below. Take care!
Actually, I mistated the question slightly. I asked how to switch "back" but the problem is I never used the new format. I was only interested in using it so I could create different discount options. HOWEVER, our company file has not been updated in a while and, I am guessing, is in the "old" format so I can't switch to the new invoice format.
IF there is a way for me to get there from here please let me know.
Thanks.
Thank you for getting back to us, JS2138.
As mentioned by my colleagues above, the new invoice layout is only available for the new QBO account. However, you've stated that there is a message you were asked to switch back, yet you never used the new format. It possible you experience a browser-related issue.
To rule this out, you can open your QuickBooks using an incognito or private window. This can help us rule out any cache-related issue that might've caused the problems. Use these shortcut keys to open it:
If the steps above work, I suggest clearing your browser's cache to boost browser-related issues. Some stored data on your browser can impact the data being transmitted, thus causing some unusual responses.
In case private browsing doesn't work, I'd recommend using different browsers. They'll provide you with the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks. For more details, please see this article: System Requirements For QuickBooks.
