How do I view the 1099 fillings from previous years?

I understand how important it is to view your 1099 filings from previous years, support83.

May I know what year of the 1099 forms you'd like to view?

Currently, generating the 1099’s prior to the 2020 Tax Year is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. This is in line with the IRS updates made to the 1099-MISC and NEC. I'm here to share several solutions and workarounds to get you back up.

First, you can get copies of your 1099's if you've filed them through our 1099 E-file service. I recommend following the steps shared by Ethel_A to do so.

Aside from that, you can run and customize the Transaction List by Vendor report in QuickBooks. Then, manually fill out the form available through the IRS website. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Look for and choose the said report from the Expenses and vendors section.
  3. Select the Customize button, and then the vendor or accounts subject for 1099's.
  4. Click Run report.
  5. After that, you can now fill out the forms manually. I've added some samples you can use:

While our engineers and compliance team are working on this form, I'd encourage you to visit our QuickBooks blog page. This way, you'll keep abreast with the recent cascades and product developments.

If you want to view the forms that are later than 2020, let's access your QuickBooks Online account via a private window. This is a good place to determine if the missing button to view 1099 is a browser-related issue. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Once logged in, check if you can view the forms. If it works, clear the browser's cache to ensure the program performs efficiently. Otherwise, you can use other supported browsers. They also provide the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks.

Additionally, I've added this article that'll help you learn what 1099 forms there are and how you can prepare for the upcoming tax season: Get Answers to your 1099 Questions.

Please know you can always keep us posted if you have more payroll questions or any QuickBooks-related concerns. We'll be around to help you out.

The 1099 E-file service account link does not work. It just takes you to QuickBooks online. And then the report runner shows the transactions of 1099s but doesn't show the copies of the 1099 fillings. I need copies of the 1099 fillings from 2020, 2021, and 2022

I can share some information that can help you with getting a copy of your previous year's 1099s, @LDriscoll

If you've used Tax1099 to e-file your 1099 forms from these two previous years, then you can follow the steps provided in the following article on how to view, print, email, or mail them: Where Can I See My Submitted Forms?

In case you don't see your forms or you don't know if they were submitted yet, please look under Forms, then View/Edit/Submit Forms. Just set the payer, tax year, and form type. That screen will show any forms not yet submitted to the IRS.

For QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted and QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced, here's how to view tax forms that Intuit files for you: View your previously filed tax forms and payments

Got to taxes / 1099 Fillings. Select the year of the fillings you require (I believe that the fillings prior to 2022 will not be available this way)

How do I view the 1099 fillings from previous years?

It is actually under the Taxes tab, then 1099 Filings.  However, I could only go back to 2022 1099's.  I am unsure how to view prior 1099's.
