How do you switch with QBO from business mode to accounting mode

Hi there, linda115.

I'm here to ensure you'll be able to change QuickBooks from business mode to accounting mode.

I suggest going to the Account and Settings page. From there, you can see the User view section and able to switch from business mode to accounting mode.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the upper right corner.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Choose the User view section. Then, click the pencil icon and change the Business view to Accountant view from the dropdown arrow.
  5. Hit Save and Done.

For additional information, you can click this article: Switch between Business and Accountant view in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can now start recording journal entries in QuickBooks Online. You can check this article to see the detailed steps: Create a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

Please refer to this article to view information about the difference between Cash and Accrual methods and how to change them on a report: Choose between cash and accrual accounting methods in reports.

Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success.

Thanks for getting back here, linda115.

I'll show you where to switch from business mode to accounting mode. You can find the option by going to the Gear Switch to Business view or Switch to Accountant view.

How do you switch with QBO from business mode to accounting mode

I can walk you through how to undo an entire period's reconciliation, Phenix21.

It's possible that you're directly logged in to your company file instead of the QuickBooks Online Accountant. Just make sure you're logged in as an accountant for you to undo your client's entire reconciliation period. Then, select the company and follow these steps to undo:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Reconcile.
  2. At the upper-right, click History by account.
  3. Select the Account and Report period.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow beside the View report link.
  5. Select Undo.
