I keep having an issue with Quickbooks over font size inside the program. I had things sora fixed where I could work, then, Microsoft just did an update, now everything is messed up. So, are there any tricks or tips that will help me enlarge the print inside the progam? If this keeps on, I am going to be forced to find another program.

Hello there, VickiL.
We can change your Windows DPI and screen resolution while the option to enlarge the font is unavailable within QuickBooks. Changing the settings can also affect other programs or apps in your computer.
Moreover, I got four solutions for you on how to fix the issue.
Solution 1: Change QuickBooks DPI settings
Solution 2: Change the Desktop View Preference
If these solutions don't work, you can check out solutions 3 and 4 in this article for more details: QuickBooks Desktop display issues.
If you have further questions, you can always go back to this thread.

I used your Solution #1, I disabled DPI Settings and this worked. Thank you very much.
When will QuickBooks fix allow users to increase the font size on the desktop 2020 version? Better yet QUIT making the fonts microscopic!!! What ever happened to 12pt font size? When did 7-9 pt fonts become normal? People run out buying glasses because they think they cannot see when in fact ALL of the product providers KEEP decreasing the font sizes!!! Terrible for consumers!
Why are you able to change the font size when posting messages in this forum but not when actually using the desktop version of QuickBooks? The amount consumers are charged to use the system and the with the requirement to update every three years, this should have been addressed several years ago! Poor customer service in regards to addressing the font size in QuickBooks.
JUST ANOTHER WAY FOR QB TO ATTEMPT TO GET US TO GO TO QBO, AN EVEN MORE INFERIOR PRODUCT.
WAVE & ZIPBOOKS ALL THE WAY. DONE WITH QB ALTOGETHER THIS YEAR! YEAH
DUMP IT NOW BEFORE YOU REGRET IT. THE MORE UPDATES THAT ROLLOUT THE WORSE IT GETS
Hello. If you are wishing to change the font size for all Reports... Go to the top and select "EDIT", then "Preferences", then "Reports & Graphs". At this screen, now select "Company Preferences". Once this opens: Click OFF the checkmark on "Default & Formatting for Reports"... then click on "Format...". Once new screen opens, click on "Fonts & Numbers" tab. Then click on "Change Font" (just like you continuously have to do for each Report you had been running cause the print is sooooo tiny. Then select your preferences (ie: Ariel, Regular (saves ink), Font 12 or 14). Reply "OK" to this and your future Report fonts will be this. Next questions to confirm this: "Change all related fonts?" YES, "Report Format Reference" screen OK, "Preference" screen OK. Done. Best of luck.... :)
where EXACTLY, do you "click on edit?" Are you referring to QB online???
I cannot find your suggestion anywhere./
SOOOO frustrating!
Hi there, italianbird811.
Thanks for stopping by the Community, the steps provided above are for QuickBooks Desktop. Unfortunately, at this time the ability to change the font size in QBO reports is unavailable. However, I can see how this would be beneficial, for that reason I'm going to reach out to our product engineers to see about implementing this in a future update. You can keep an eye on our blog, as that's where you can find information on changes and updates applied. The fastest way to get get changes like this made is to submit feedback. You can do so by clicking this link and following the steps there. If there's anything else I can do to help, feel free to post here anytime. Thanks and I hope you have a lovely day
Hi, I used solution one up to a point. After opening Properties and clicking on Compatibility I had to click on the CHANGE HIGH DPI SETTINGS box toward the bottom. Once there under High DPI scaling override click the square to the left then for Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: In the drop down menu choose System not System(Enhanced)*. After that click Apply, Ok. I knew it finally worked when I opened QB and the initial opening icon was 3" across instead of 1".
This is the only solution I've been able to find, I had this problem with Desktop Pro 2018 and had to relearn the solution after downloading the 2021 version. I didn't have this problem with my old laptop but I upgraded and now I have a Dell computer with 10th gen intel core i7. I am not a computer person so I don't really know what that means and if it's helpful.
* Update* For about a month I used System (Enhanced) but I had issues with dropdown menus disappearing, I'd have to arrow down to my choice and hit enter instead of using the mouse to just click on it. The formatting is finally back to what I was used to in QB Pro 18 and earlier versions.
Best!
Hi, just press control and plus button to get the font text bigger - accidentally found by my co worker Tanya :)
Why can't the font size be changed on Quickbooks Destops????? This will be my last upgrade if this isn't changed.

Hi. Please tell me how to increase and darken the fonts in QuickBooks Online. This is my first day using it, and it's TOO HARD TO READ.
Let me provide some insights about increasing and darkening fonts in QuickBooks Online, @Scotty666.
To start, let's check the settings on your computer to make sure it displays all pages properly. QuickBooks Online requires these settings:
Then, we can change the font size in your browser to increase the size. Here's how:
Please take note that this will work on any page that's either too big or too small, not just QuickBooks Online.
I can see that the option to darken the font is a crucial feature for any business. Discovering new ways to adapt to our customers’ needs is how QuickBooks gets even better. Your feedback helps our Product Development team determine which feature will be implemented in the next future update. The change is also based on how popular a specific feature request is.
That being said, I suggest submitting a product suggestion directly to our software engineers. We're taking notes of your ideas and insights. Let me show you:
Your relevant feedback goes to our Product Development team to help heighten your experience in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
I've also added this article for your future reference in case you want to personalize your sales forms in QuickBooks Online: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Hi. Thanks for responding, but you didn’t mention Quickbooks in your suggestions. You only discussed adjusting my computer settings. On this chat page, Intuit offers a Bold feature! Why can’t they offer it in the product?
As I said, this is my first day on QBO, and I’m very disappointed. To suggest I write to your tech designers is disingenuous— I see Community customers requesting this feature TWO YEARS AGO, and even then, they were told to “send in that suggestion.” So Intuit has been ignoring this common-sense request for two years!
I’m so disappointed. I had this setting on my QB desktop. Online is so much more expensive, and it’s lacking this incredibly rudimentary feature.
For myself, and I think many here. We want to change the font size for all the display windows, Icon Bar etc. With the last update the font style changed and shrunk! I already wear contacts and have a large monitor. Now I need to lean in to see the labels! Especially for the category headings in the the Home Page box. I can barely see 'VENDORS', 'CUSTOMERS' etc. WTH!!
It worked (Control + ), thank you
Original post was in 2021 and here we are in 2024 and you still cannot change the font size in QB Desktop. Disgraceful that Intuit cannot or will not make their product more user friendly with a simple option to change the font size on reports.
I got a new computer with new monitors and went from windows 10 to 11. My QuickBooks home screen, font, and all else is so small. I have tried EVERYTHING.... Please Help
I'll walk you in the right direction to ensure your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) home screen is clear and easy to read, @RETAIL2.
I appreciate the efforts you've put into troubleshooting the small font issue in QBDT. Since the problem persists, I recommend contacting our customer support team. This way, they can instruct you using a screen-sharing tool to adjust the home screen size according to your preference.
